What are your favorite top water lures. I've been having some success bass fishing lately and would like to try to catch one on top. What lures should I try?

I've done my best work on a clear PopR type lure and frog chug bugs.... i can't find them anywhere anymore though so thats kind of a bummer..... Not in the same pattern anyway. I've used ones that I painted black for night fishing and they've done well also....

Popper here. I also use an old one my dad gave me but I have bought a Yo-zuri recetnly that looks good and I am wanting to try. Also, my dad has an old Heddon Dying Flutter with two spinners that he does well on. He also uses a Zara Spook occassionaly. Below is a link to a page that shows a popper (Lucky 13), a torpedo (one spinner), the Dying Flutter and a Zara Spook.

This link shows some other various topwater and a lot of good poppers. The yo-zuri poppers are at the end... alphabetical.

I got a nice 3.4lb smallie at topwater, a Lucky Craft Sammy 85. It was real cool. I was working it right next to a tree, wham! A hint with topwater lures, let the fish set the hook itself or you'll just keep pulling away from the fish. Plus, hooking ratios are the lowest of all lures(most fish are too blind to hit anything accurately).

I like to use buzzers, jitterbug's and the ol Lucky 13's. The floating rapala's work really well too.

Buzzer if I'm looking for a big one, spook if I need medium fish w/a chance for a kicker, and a popper as a last resort [any topwater fish is a good fish].

I tried a popper over the weekend, it didn't work to well. Their are to many weeds, I couldn't retrieve it three feet before snagging. Anyone fished with those weedless frogs? Just before dark the bass started jumping all over the place, I think they were taking dragon flies are there any weedless dragon fly imitations available?

Hey man, where were you fishing? Frogs work great for heavy weeds. I have stuck some hawgs on the California Delta using frogs. Using a popper around weeds is probably not a good idea. Try a weightless fluke texposed. rip it by jerking your rod tip ever so slightly to keep it skipping on the surface. Also have a chaser bait for any missed blow-ups. plastics work great for chaser baits. Mike Iconelli used a senko to follow any missed strikes to win the classic.

When throwing a frog, keep your rod tip up and swim it across the weeds the smae speed a frog would actually swim. SSSLLLLLOOOOWWWWWW.

Good Luck Brother!

just got back from a LP trip and i was hitting the strippers on a top knocker blue and silver.. hit a 3 1/3 lbs smalley off the side of a striper boil..
but my all time favorite top water has to be a silver and blue dying flutter..

A weightless grub reeled really slow on the surface works around weeds. Kind of buzz it across the surface.
