i went to strawberry trolling for cutts on saturday. it reminded me why i stopped fishing there on saturdays. renegade bay had more boats packed in there than ive ever seen!

but, fishing was pretty good. the wind picked up, but we trolled through it. caught fish pretty much all day long. ran out of worms twice and quit fishing the second time. we could have bought more and continued to catch fish, but we'd had enough. of the three of us i was the low man with 21 fish. i wont mention my brother and my dads numbers. (enough to say that i got killed!!!)

caught almost all slot cutts. my brother did catch two small bows and a 15" koke. those cutts sure have grown since last year! i just dont know why we cant break the slot. fish averaged 16-19 inches for us.

anyone else try it recently?

I have noticed if you look for where they are feeding you can get into some bigger over the slot cutts. One place that always produces big cutts is the ladders. The fish cruise around the end of the cloudy water weaving in and out of the debrit from the inlet and feed on what comes down the inlet. We managed to land 2 over the slot and lost a couple others that were well over the slot. Glad you had a good day though. I noticed alot of people had a hard time buying a bite.

we were trolling pop gear and worm down 30-40 feet on downriggers. my uncle uses lead line and had a pretty good day last week. (also pop gear and worm) the speed seemed to be a huge factor on that day. (it usually is!) 1.4 to 1.7 mph (gps) was the money speed.
