Got a chance to slip up the the green this weekend. I was in Vernal for and old fashioned country ho-down. I only had two hours to fish, but figured it was worth battleing the crowds. So with friends, family, kids and dogs in tow we got the typical late start that is indicative of outings with children and non-fisherpersons. There wasn't much to report on the fishing side. Three mid-slot browns all seduced to the surface by terrestrials. It was amazingly not busy on the river. We arrived at 10:00 am and there was only a dozen cars in the lot. I thought a July, saturday, holiday weekend might result in not getting a parking spot in any one of the three parking lots. We had the entire first bend down stream to ourself. My dog even got a chance to get off the leash and do a little swimming. In the end I caught enough fish to know that I haven't lost the touch and got to bring the people I love to a place that I love. You couldn't beat a day like that if you tried.
