[#505000][Smile] With vacation days to burn, fishing gear that needs using, and a hankering to catch a BIG catfish I decided to go on an all nighter of my own in preparation for the Gorilla Floatilla (what is the current limit on gorillas anyway??). [/#505000]

[#505000]Watching the weather the past few days I was worried it wasn't going to happen, then I noticed a distinct pattern. It would get yucky then clear up around 6 in the afternoon or so until the next day at noon. [/#505000]

[#505000]My neighbor and fellow BFT member 476 and I decided to give it a go and we decided to meet around 2000hrs at Lincoln Beach. I loaded the car and did the triple check of everything to make sure I didn't forget anything. All is well I was out the door and hit the road.[/#505000]

[#505000]I pulled into the parking lot at 2000hrs sharp and noticed to my dismay there were two jet skis doing all kinds of crazy tricks right smack on top of where I had been planning to fish. I took a deep breath, counted to ten several times, and decided I would need to try another spot. There was a light breeze and the water was a little choppy, but nothing I hadn't fished in before.[/#505000]

[#505000]I pulled onto the boat launch and began to assemble my pontoon. Three minutes in I realized I was missing the seat portion of my pontoon. ACK!!! I loaded back into the car made the 15 minute drive home and found the seat I now remember looking at all three times I did the missing gear triple check [crazy]. I then hit the road yet again and made the 15 minute journey back to Lincoln Beach to meet up with 476. [/#505000]

[#505000]We got his Kaiyak, and my pontoon into the water with no problems. We headed out to the end of the boat launch and saw some white water action that would put any class 5 rapid to shame. The breeze had picked up some and it appeared hurricane Emily was on our doorstep. [/#505000]

[#505000]We decided to putter around inside the boat launch channel for a bit to see if things cleared up any. Just after dark I saw a boat beginning to launch. I was guessing these guys hadn't seen the water or cleaned the crud out of their ears because you couldn't help but hear the crashing surf. Several minutes later here comes a 14 foot flat botton aluminum duck boat with three guys in it. I did the required eye rub to see if I was seeing things as these guys (Larry, Curly, and Moe) powered toward the exit of the launch channel. [/#505000]

[#505000]Not wanting to be/or having to call search and rescue I yelled over to the boat and asked them if they planned to go out. I was informed they were deciding. I told them they were either very good or nuts if they chose to go out. About then on of the seats in the boat gave out dumping one of the occupants in the bottom of the boat.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]The boat was quickly beached as the three attempted some hasty seat repairs. I moved away and 476 beached his craft for a moment so he could apply some anti-bug juice. I countinued to fish when I heard the roar of a motor. I looked up to see the three stooges powering toward 476 at about 15 MPH. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]They barely managed to miss 476 and with a loud bang got their craft completley out of the water and well up onto the south jetty. The craft was carried over the jetty and put down on the other side. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]We fished for another hour and the wind got so bad we figured Hurricane Emily had arrived. We decided to cancel the remainder of our all nighter and reschedule. As we were calling it a night we saw the three brain surgeons loading their craft from the beach south of the boat launch and getting out of there as well. [/#505000]

[#505000]Not a terribly sucessful fishing trip but it is alway fun to get on the water, and the duck boat gave me a chuckle all night long (except the part where they nearly took out a perfectly good fishing buddy).[/#505000]

When is this Gorilla Floatilla that you speak of? I'm sure there was a post, I just must have missed it.

Wow ya gotta wonder about some people!! If that had THAT much trouble, I'd wanna keep my distance from them... wouldn't want any of that bad luck or stupidity to rub off!!
