[#505000]Wondering if I was pregnant because of my recent grumping around the house, my wife told me to go fishing and not come back until I was in a better mood. I told her I may make it back around the end of August 2007 (based on how stressed out I've been). [][/#505000]

[#505000]I all fairness to her I have been a bit of a bear lately, with unexpected car repairs, an uninvited relative who showed up to my little girls's 1st birthday party (uninvited because their children are holy terrors), holy terror uninvited relative children who tried to put a hole in the screen of my big screen TV at said birthday party, family pictures with a grumpy baby (which I loath and detest family picture taking), and the list goes on that's only about 1/3 of the stuff that has thoroughly ruined my first week of vacation!! I was starting to think I needed to cancel my last week of vacation and go back to work so I could relax. [][/#505000]

[#505000]I got to Lincoln Beach around 2pm and launched. The lake was glass and there wasn't a breeze in sight. However based on what I was smelling I was starting to wonder if the local municipalities had resumed pumping raw sewage into the lake.[/#505000]

[#505000]I "powered" on over to one of my kitty holes and began to fish. By about 5pm I had only gotten 1 thump and nothing was happening on my kitty pole (I had also moved and tried several locations). Not much happier than when I left home I decided I was going to fish until I caught something. I forgot my head lamp which I would need if I needed to fish on into the evening so I called my dear sweet wife to bring it to me along with some dinner (I live 10-15 minutes away from Lincoln Beach). [#505000]I rowed on over to the jetty to see if I could scare up a white bass to get the skunk off, and to wait for dinner to arrive. While there I ran into Ocean, and JedBurton. I was a little more relieved about my trip so far to hear the fish weren't biting for them either[/#505000]
[#505000]We set up shop at the end of the jetty and tried to entice a white bass. Ocean scored on and after a while I felt a tick. I set the hook and nothing. I reeled in and realized my line was trying to swim away. I brought the hook end in and found I had caught a dink 4" bluegill. What was amamzing is that this small fish could fit the jig I was using in it's mouth. Ok it wasn't much but the skunk was off and I appeazed the fish gods by sending him back. [/#505000]

[#505000]Dinner arrived and I wolfed it down, I then proceeded back to my kitty hole. When I arrived I was amazed at the number of carp in the area. All 7million of Utah Lake's finest were congregating in my kitty hole. I attempted to snag one for kicks and giggles, but I found this to be much more difficult from a toon. [/#505000]

[#505000]After about 6 casts I scored a nice sized white bass. In about 15-20 minutes I had caught 5 of em (all really nice sized), followed by a good sized Channel Cat on my kitty pole. To further appeaze the fish gods I released the first channel. I quickly caught another channel which was a bit of a dinker I would guestimate it was 17 inches or so long. I sent that one back to ripen, and then caught a third just after dark. That one I decided was Saturday dinner and he got to come home. Around 10:30 I decided it was a good night, I was in a much better mood so I packed it up and went home.[/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]I am still amazed at the sheer number of carp where I was fishing. I could have gotten out of my toon and walked across their backs. While catching the white bass I would get ticks I would miss on the hook set then when the jig got back to me it would have a single perfectly impaled carp scale on th end of my hook. I aso don't mind telling ya'll it scared the bejesus out of me when one swam into my fin. I wasn't expecting that! [][/#505000]
