Hey guys I am looking at geting into the toon life. I have done the tube thing and I love it but Like how high you sit in a toon and all the stuff I can carry. I have done the boat thing but well its still sitting in the back yard. Most the places I like to fish either wont allow motors or arnt really worth yanking a boat out.

Here is the one I really like from reading so far.

Can you guys give me some insite on this one if you know anything about it or better ones if there are.

I do plan of getting a trolling motor and finder and Maybe a downrigger if possible :}
dont know about that though just going of what I have herd some guys doing.

Most the fishing will be bass and trought in little ponds and high alt. lakes.

Any help would be greatfull guys.
Thanks

[cool][#0000ff]Hey Hal, if you are referring to the Trout Unlimited Colorado, that is a great ride. We have several BFTers in Utah that have them and they all like them. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Here is a LINK TO A THREAD on the Colorado. You can probably PM Henerysfork or Mikecromaine (now Bassackwards) and get their input. They have both motorized theirs. Also, go up to the thread at the top (Best of the Best) and check out some of the other links.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I seem to recall that Sam's Club had some for less than $350 at one time. Not sure what their current availability is.[/#0000ff]

A downrigger is kind of "overkill" for a toon. I have tried it, but with only "limited" success. You should really get some more info on it - and share it with me. I used a Cannon mini troll with a 4 pound weight. It turned out for me to be too much work and hassle and took up too much time away from actually fishing. Also, I found that the downrigger affected the handling characteristics of my toon(a very robust motorized 12 footer with 4 separtate pontoons) to the point of being difficult to operate and fish at the same time. If your toon is smaller than mine, the downrigger will have even a more dramatic effect on the performance of your watercraft.

Maybe I was putting too much into it or something, but, unless you can find some more workable "techniques", I would say "leave your downrigger on your boat and use your toon for other kinds of fishing".
