We are camping the East side of Bear Lake in about a week and was wondering if there are any other fishing areas besides bear lake itself that might be within a short drive. River or Lake, Idaho, Wyoming, or Utah. Any suggestions? thx

There is montpelier resevoir on highway 89 up montpelier canyon. Bear River is usually pretty good on highway 30 towards the wyoming boarder. Also if you enjoy creek fishing St. Charles, Bloomington, and Paris creek are also alot of fun for brookies and rainbows. The seanery is also great. Hope this helps.

Two comments:

1. If camping on east side watch for rattlesnakes.

2. Logan river is good fishing. Below Red Banks Campground to Card Guard Station is artificial only. Below the guard station is bait or fly.

Why not fish Bear Lake?

You can stock up on suckers for kitty bait at the State marina pretty easily.

Early morning or late evening right where you will be camping can produce some pretty decent cutt action in about 30-50 feet of water.

Just a little hint but I hear rumor of some nice weed beds off the South East corner near the willow tree that one could possibly vertical jig for some realy nice perch. 25-30 feet off the shore.

Send me a pm if you want to hook up and fish together, I have been known to frequent Bear Lake on occasion.

No trading needed my friend. I would be glad to help ya out with launch sites. As for guiding, well let's just say that I am still putting in my time and learning how to fish Big Blue, But I will share whatever I hear and experience first hand with ya.
