[black]I asked mama Coot if she might like to take a break from working hard helping me take care of Mom (my 88 year old mother recently moved in with us) and go fishing this evening. To my surprise, she said "yes". So off to Angler's Den to get her a license before they closed and then off to Willard.[/black]
[black]Launched at about 5:45 and decided to troll down to the light pole and back. We marked a lot of fish down deep in 2-3 spots going down and found them again when coming back up. But could never get a bite. Going down we used a variety of lipless crank baits and coming back up I use lead core on one pole and deep divers on the other. Still nothing. I was getting to worry that our $8.00 one-day (3-hour) fishing license was for not. Then I seen the egrets dive bombing into the lake. I told mama Coot "there's a boil" and we headed over to it. We stopped well outside of the boil so as to not spook the fish activity. Started casting Kastmasters and lipless cranks. Boy the fun was on![/black]
[black]The boil was a very wide loose one that moved S-W very fast. It even endured a water skier gong right through it which just seemed to separate it into two distinct boils.[/black]
[black]Three times we had doubles. And man, those wipers have an attitude when they are boiling. Except for one 12 incher, they were all pretty big too.[/black]
[black]When the dust settled, mama Coot had boated six, I boated four (she kept me busy unhooking fish), three times we had doubles, and mama Coot has blisters on both of her hands.[/black]
[black]While talking with the guys at the cleaning station, they all expressed the same fact that they were getting no bites all evening until the boil. [/black]
[black]Definitely a night we both will remember. Fish will be on the dinner table tomorrow.[/black]
