Not a real great day for me except spent some time with my friend and brother inlaw. We had fun but all the cats we got were real small today. We tried down stream from Corinne and we caught a few. I even had some small ones bite on a bare hook that I had just got out of the tackle box. I was trying to get some chicken livers for the hook and while it was dangling in the water the cats were jumping on.

Here is a tip for anyone taking a boat down to that boat ramp. DON'T go too far down the ramp. Today my friend pulled down to the water and his rear tires slipped off the ramp into the mud. We had to call my brother inlaw to come pull us out.

Well thanks to friends and brother inlaw's especially ones with pickups.

Thanks for the report, were you using a 4X4 when you launched your boat? Were the fish you caught channels or mudders? How far did you go down stream? Thanks for the info. WH2

No 4x4. I hope that this week I will have a reciever put on my Jeep so that we will have a 4x4 for those occasions. We caught a lot of mudders this time but about even with channels. I am not real sure how far downstream we went but there were a lot of people fishing from shore down that way.

As you go down river, there are a couple of corners in the first mile, the second corner is by a very big tree that has branches that hang over water, after that it is a long straight away. That second corner use to have a good hole below the tree branches and we could pick up a few as we drifted between the first and second corner. We never did any good on that long straight away but the first bend after that has a decent hole that can be good. By the time you get past the long straight away and to that bend, you will be around two miles down stream and soon there will be a split in the river. In the past we have found several good holes after that split that have some very big fish in them, just go down the right hand fork. I hope this info will help you on your next trip down the Bear, it can be a lot of fun, if you have the time. WH2
