[red] My boat is in need of a good cleaning , and De-oxidation treatment. Anyone have a suggestion of what to use on fiberglass that will do a good job. I want to get some color back on this thing.[/red]

I really like the mequires products, particularly the cleaner wax and then the deep crystal polish. I have also used and really liked a product called TR3 resin glaze however, I have never used this product on fiberglass.

[black]You'll probably need a polishing compound for fiberglass. Then you'll want to put some kind of protectant like wax to keep it looking sharp. You want to remove the oxidation but not go through the gel coat. I'd imagine that almost every marine shop around has the stuff you need so it shouldn't be hard to find. Just go into one and start asking the questions. They'll fix you right up.[/black]

You may also need some hardwater remover to get all the hard water and mineral residues removed from your boat, hardware and engine. Sounds like work to me. Have fun! LOL!

I just checked my Hotmail emails and got an unsolicited ad for a product that removes thw waterline stain from fiberglass boats. I have no idea if it works or not, but if you decide to purchase it locally there is a 25% off printable coupon:

I use CLR. Mixed with water. About half and half. Put it in a spray bottle and spray it on. Let it sit for a minute or two and wipe it off. It takes Utah Lake scum off.

[black]Hey, Dan,[/black]
[black][/black]
[black]Are you talking about surface oxidation in the fiberglass gel coat or are you talking about hard water deposits and pond scum? It definitely makes a difference because the products used to remove hard water deposits will not remove surface oxidation in the gel coat. [/black]

[red] Hey Rich , I thought about that CLR stuff after I read the post, I was dealing with surface oxidation in the gel coat. I found some stuff that really did a good job on the ole Boat and it looks much better. the oxidation wasn't as bad as it looked. I went over it twice to be sure I covered everything.[/red]

FOUL! FOUL! FOUL!
Buy me a lund and I will behave!
Better yet, buy my Bayliner and I will take ya fishing on my new classic when she is complete. Shoot, I would take ya anyways!
Oxi-clean is yet another great cleaning tool for oxidation and mold. I just wipped up a batch Sunday and cleaned my 1966 glastron to a glisening shine. For the tough spots I used a little bleach and water 50/50 was strong enough. Make sure you wash it all off with some good Ol soap and water and recoat with a fresh film of wax.
