Well, with many thanks to sockeyeslayer and others who answered my previous post regarding how to fish kokanee on the gorge, I had what I consider a pretty successful first trip! We only managed to get a few kokes (and one lake trout that was caught in 60 feet suspended over 100 feet - must have thought it was a kokanee or something!) but sure had a blast learning the ins and outs! We had to manage between the frequent thunderstorms and strong winds but had a great time. We mostly fished the area around Kingfisher Island and seemed to do the best in about 60 - 65 feet over anywhere from 100 - 120 feet of water. We lost a couple until I remembered to use the snubber !!! OOPS !!! All silver cowbells followed about 24" by an all silver kokanee king with a bit of crawler outdid the other setups by far. We trolled at about 1.5 MPH ( as well as we could control in the wind anyway).
Camping at hideout was great - even the friendly skunk in the campsite just added to it all (good thing my dog was so worn out from fishing that he did not even notice the little critter). Launched at sheep creek with no problems although the angle of the ramp is pretty shallow there. Did not have any luck (nor did anyone else I talked to) in the area right across from the hideout campground.
I am looking forward to getting up there again!!
