How late were you thinking of being out? I've got to work sunday morning, but only for a few hours.

i am not sure i have not really fished after dark out there but i think i am goin to throw jigs for a while in the channel then maybe troll ???? how long can you stay??????????

here's a question, why do people like to fish Willard? The fishing is often slow and the water is too warm and carp infested. Plus it's so close to Utah's greatest city, Ogden.

I can stay until about 10:00, even if you wanted to stay later I could meet you up there and leave when i needed to.

Dude, you have got to be kidding!!!!! In case your not, there is a little known fish in Willard called a wiper. If you have not caught one then that is why you might ask such a question. Catching can be slow at any lake and Willard is no exception but when it's hot it is hard to beat. In addition to wipers, Willard has some of the best walleye, crappie and cat fishing in the area. So my question to you, is it possible you just don't know how to fish at Willard? Oh yea, welcome to the site. WH2

I have to agree with you wiperhunter. There are alot of guys who fish willard and love it! I guees you need to know how and where to fish on that lake!

I have to agree with you WH2 if you havent caught a wiper then you dont know what you are missing! Its the closest thing to catching an ocean fish plus its a great eating fish too.[sly] Willard is a 2 1/2 hour drive for me but its worth it when you catch a wiper.

I just grew up fishing the elite way with a flyrod, I never got into fishing with worms and such. But everytime I pass by Willard Bay I get a disgusted feeling in my stomach, I waterskiied there two years ago and it was the dirtiest water and the most carp infested water. I guess I need to go catch some of those wipers, they sound great!!!!

DIRTY THATS NOT DIRTY TAKE A GANDER AT UTAH LAKE. ELITE METHOD? COME ON.... LMAO, I FLY FISHED AND TIED FLIES FOR YRS. I DONT DIG BAIT MUTCH BUT IF IT IS WHAT IS PUTTING FISH ON THE LINE I WILL DUNK A WORM. ONE FORM IS NOT BETTER OR WORSE THAN ANOTHER JUST DIFFERNT. WE DONT DICRIMMINATE OR LOOK DOWN ON ANYONE FOR THE WAY THEY FISH. JUST HOW THEY SPEAK ABOUT FISHIN. THIS BOARD IS VERY USEFULL AND WILL SAVE ANYONE A TON OF TIME AND MONEY WHEN HEADING OUT TO DO WHAT WE ALL LOVE. IT IS A GREAT TOOL FOR THE BOX. USE IT AS SUCH. AND HAVE FUN LERNING ABOUT UTAH WATERS. IF FLY FISHING IS YOUR ONLY METHOD THER ARE BOARDS IN UTAH DESIGNATED JUST FOR ELITEST FLY FISHERMEN. SOLID SETS.

because a few of can catch nice size walleye 20" or better fish every time we go, plus not to mention the number of times we catch over 40 or more wiperers in 1 outing, maybe thats why...........????????

If fly fishing is what you like, then you would love to catch a wiper on a fly or streamer. The fall is the best time to do it when the wipers are boiling. It's not easy to do this time of the year but if catch one you would be hooked. Last year and the year before were the lowest Willard has ever been and when Willard is low the water gets real muddy. The water is a lot better this year but it is starting to get a little murky now, nothing like the last two years though. WH2

[red]I grew up with the flyrod on the crystal clear streams and lakes of western Montana and know exactly what you are saying. We would back pack into remote areas with a mini vise and micro fly tying kit, see what was hatching, tie one up, tie one on and float it in the eddy of a boulder or undercut and find some beautiful fish in some beautiful scenery. Granted, you are not going to find that at Willard. However, if you are open to new things and a change in paradigm, Willard is a great sport fishery. To me it's all good, just different. Welcome to BFT. [/red]

Welcome to the board elitist Mr. Michael Bolton.
You are absolutely right. The water at Willard is filthy, it is located near Ogden, there are carp in the water, and, if you hadn't noticed, there are a lot of bugs. One of the best ways to catch one of those nasty tasting walleye is to actually put a worm on a hook. Pass on the word to your elite associates that it is a disgusting place to fish. And most of all, don't experience the actual fishing there because I wouldn't want you to have anything other than a disgusting feeling in your stomach when you drive right on by that place. There are way too many people already that have the misconception that it is a great place to catch great fish. When in fact, the fish out there are pretty sub-standard and don't put up much of a fight. Willard, it's fish, and it's fishermen will just never measure up to elite fishermen catching a trout on a fly rod.
