I think its time to bring out the bikes like the chinese !You dont see many overweight chinese do you? [

] I think these arabs are doing us a favor by making us look for other resources so we dont have to depend on them and make them richer than they already are

Gas prices will continue to rise as long as the American public are willing to bend over and take a hosing without saying to much.

I completely agree with you on Americans speaking out and saying something. I know I am doing my part by only driving to work and school. But I am hoping the Federal Government will step in and do something. So far I havent heard a word on what they can or will do. I know that dipping into the national Oil reserves is an option, but what is that going to do for our wallets???

Sad thing is our president has made a fortune in the oil game and i am sure that he still owns a stake in oil, so higher prices mean more money in his pockets, he isnt going to bring a big push to alternitave sources cuz it will be money out of his pocket.
I think that we need to pour money into bio-diesel, diesel engiens as they stand right now can burn this just fine, the only hangup is it gels easly when cool. i think where bio diesel comes from corn and soybean oils manily it is a viable future to lookinto because america produces lots of corn and soy, and if there were a bigger demand for it for fuel that would stimulate the economy. It would also help wean us off of opec's tit.

I agree with f4f in that Bush still has his fingers deep in the pockets of oil profits. Until its no longer benifits his causes he'll do little if anything to lower gas prices as long as the American public bend over a take it without being kissed.
As far as the national oil reserves, let us not forget that we (you, me and the other guy) are the nation. And while I'll not pretend to know the right course of action, I do realize those feul reserves belong to the American public and we as a nation must decide our course of action, not GB and his croanies..
As far as I'm concerned its time this nation sends GB the message that if he's going to keep hosing us we want a kiss.. Whats more, I'm sure you know where I'd just a soon have him can kiss me..

Its really easy, look into bio diesel and an engine that will run it (any diesel engine will). Put a renewable resource cell system in your house (windmill and solar energy). Not only will you no longer pay fuel taxes but the power compnay will be buying YOUR spare electricity, the goverment will be giving YOU a tax CREDIT (not a deduction) and your fuel costs will be around .45 cents a gallon and you will get far better mpg than you ever thought. Imagine the government paying YOU to look at renewable sources of energy. People of the American masses are finally being asked to cough up what the rest of the world has been doing for ages. America is no longer speaking softly and carrying a big stick; we have opened our mouths and lost all question about us. It is time that we return to buying USA and keeping it in USA.
No, I'm not a commie or left or right wing nut. I too am sick and tired of being hosed and feel it is all of our duties to look into renewable resources. ESPECIALLY if you feel the need to complain about it. I figure I can save close to 600 bucks a month, enough in saving to pay for itself after two years. Not including the tax benefits and return on excess production.
F4f, the solution to the gel issue is easy, buy the same anti gel synthetic formula you would use with regular diesel.

Buddy of mine just showed me a pic of a station in Georgia that was charging $5.87 for low grade unleaded. Thank god for Bus passes.... [cool] They just need bus passes to get you to fishing destinations now....

It won't be long now before there is a forum here dedicated to carpooling to our favorite holes.

well i had to cancel my fishing/camping/rock hounding/exploring trip down to the moab/monticello area due to the gas prices. Was gonna meet a friend coming up from Albuquerque NM and spend labor day weekend running around that area. We heard a report that gas was 3.09 in monticello and 2.90ish in Moab and cancelled.
BUMMER!
She(my friend) told me that at one of the gas stations near her home the price went up 16 cents in a couple hours on wednesday.
EDIT: Holy cow, i just talked to my mother who lives just north of nashville tenn. She said the cheapest gas in town is $3.95. A woman she works with has family somewhere in Florida and and said that some places in Florida are charging $6 a gallon!

I may not be able to hit the ice much this winter if gas price don’t go down. $20 to $30 in diesel for a few fish is not bad, but $70 to $100 to go fishing for a day I’m going to have to raise my rates next year or fish at the local store.

all i have to say is gas prices suck!!!!!! 85 bucks to fill up outragous!!!!!!

I fully agree with the Bio stuff. I know a couple of people who make it on the side, and they sure swear by it. I think I'm going to have to start making some car moonshine!

Bio diesel is great for those of you that have diesel trucks and cars. For those of you out there that use gas I put some bosch +4 plugs in my chevy astro and dodge intrepid. It increased my power and gas mileage the van went from 14 mpg to 19 and it really only is driven in town (new vans only get 14 on the freeway). The intrepid got the best results I went from 19 mpg to 28 on my last trip to rock springs. I average 24 in the intrepid normally with freeway and in town driving. Now I am looking into a new air intake system for both and maybe converting to natural gas for them but that has limitations. It is hard to fill up your car on natural gas. I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth in. Oh by the way both cars had be tuned up 2 months before I changed plugs again so it wasn’t just from a tune up.

If your going to blame the pres. then you need to look at the dems and the libs and the tree huggers that wont let any drilling in alaska to help with the oil shortage.there is plenty of oil there to last the U.S. for a couple of decades while alterntive sources are found.Drilling in alaska can be done and keeping the enviormint safe .I guess Bush is at fault for the hurricain to...and all of the destruction and people killed...PEOPLE WAKE UP!!.Theres more in the goverment than the presidental office. Also there are other goverment officials that are DEMS that have become rich off of oil,and othere products that WE the people buy..
[signature]
So your saying because the congress and the pres are rep. they have no blame because they are part of the solution. Yet crap keeps happening on there watch. Canada sent people to new orleans and they got there before our own people. I guess it is easier to take care of a foreign country before you take care of yourself.

[black]So let me get this straight. New Orleans, which seats 9-11 ft BELOW sea level and is located in the middle of the hurricane epicenter is not responsible to have an evacuation and catastrophic emergency plan in place and responsible to initiate these plans when needed? they have known for 200 years that they could at anytime encounter major flooding should their levels be breach by major natural disasters yet they are not responsible for their own welfare?[/black]
[black] [/black]
[black]Why did the govenor of Louisiana call for a major evacuation the day after the hurricane passed even though she was urged by FEMA that evacuations should take place before the hurricane hit? [/black]
[black] [/black]
[black]Who is responsible to call out it's state's National Guard and who is responsible for all first responders? The local, county and State governments. The feds are not considered first responders.[/black]
[black] [/black]
[black]If you go to any of the emergency preparedness sites, it is said that you should have stores to help you through the first 72 hours of any catastrophic event. Any help should not be expect within that time. What was the average emergency response time for Hurricane Andrew? 4 days yet no finger pointing was done on who was responsible for the tardy response. Why? [/black]
[black] [/black]
[black]Hey, it real easy to point fingers but the fact of the matter is that ALL our government agencies, local, state, and Federal could be better to aid and comfort in the event of major catastrophies. Quit spewing garbage that has no relevancy to the facts but just shows your bias politics. No one came away from this without mud on their face. Let's quit the whining and see what we can do to help out in any way we can to get this situation under control and on the right track.[/black]

Much of what you say is true. I will point out that this has not been a problem in NO for 200 years. NO is sinking into the swamp and has been since development began. NO sits on swampland that is very soft and very far above bedrock. The sink rate is accelerating as buildings get bigger and there are more of them. As of late the sink rate is about 1/2" per year.
Now that we have seen what can happen are we prepared for our earthquake is the question. We know is it coming, comming soon. We recently put 6 72 hour kits and a bunch of stores in 55 gal barrels and I have them stored in the garage. (easiest place to dig them out if building collapses). I am counting on the 2 40 gal water heaters for drinking water and I have a Katadin water filter for when that runs out or when we have to flee.
[signature]
So I guess its bush's fault for the hurricaine..It happend on his watch...I would like to know what else happend on his watch..9/11 happend on his watch due to the ignorance of the clinton white house who had ignored this growing problem for 8 years,Bush is just cleaning up the mess..

You say there is plenty of oil there (in Alaska) to last while alternative sources are found. We already have alternative energy sources. The oil companies have been buying up the patents for them for years and sticking them in drawers so they can continue to get fat. When the oil finally does run out and the giant corperations finally implement some of the technologies they own they will still be the ones making the dough on what ever comes next. We already have the technology to build hydrogen cars and we grow so much corn in this country that the government pays farmers NOT to grow it. The corn could be used for biofuels and the american diet could use a little less hydroginated corn syrup in everything they eat. The biggest check book rules in this country, always has and it takes alot more than simple majority to overrule money. It takes much more than a majority OPINION in this country to make changes. Every single person of voting age has to make their voice herd with an "informed" vote and make politicians pay when they don't follow through. I used to concider myself a bit of a republican, but not now. W has made me turn left faster that Jeff Gordon. Some of his actions are criminal and the only thing that keeps me from screaming for his head is that Chaeney is worse.
