Sunday, 09/04/05- Hit the water early. Arrived at Las Vegas Wash at first light. Light breeze, forecast called for a windy day. Found and netted live shad in three-four feet of water on the Lake Shore Road side of the wash. The bridge was within sight on our left. There were a lot of shad in that area and we had no trouble netting them. Our best results this season. The transom mounted electric motor saves the day when operating in shallow water.
Started our first drift near the water quality station and started catching fish right away. Soon the wind kicked up and we were forced to anchor. We dropped anchor in the middle of the entrance to the wash in 50 feet of water. We had our limit by 10 am. and were off the water before 11 am. All fish were small (one to two pounds) and a couple were lean. I think it's time to get out the nets and start netting shad!
