Hey, with these gas prices I think I want to try out Willard instead of driving clear out to Strawberry. Problem is I don't know Willard at all, and have never fished for any of the types of fish there. We will either be going this weekend or next if the weather is good enough.
Any hints, tips, ideas, etc?

[font "Arial Black"][red][size 3] addicted2fishin, are you going to be in a boat or from the shore?[/size][/red][/font]

[cool]addicted2fishin, we have an AWESOME archive on Willard right here on this very site complete with lots of reports and advice of what works at this lake and what doesn't. I think you'll find it VERY useful. Have at it:

I did check out those archives. Unfortunately most of them are early-mid summer reports. The only ones from Sept - Oct are from '03, and right in the middle of the drought. Has anyone been there lately that can tell me what is working now? Also, I now have a 19' deep-v boat, which sits lower in the water than my old tri-hull. I know this was a problem a year or so ago. Are there areas I should watch out for this year? I really don't want to run it aground in shallow water, and I don't know willard's structures or terrain at all...have never been there on a boat.
Thanks.

[black]I been having luck with Rattlin' Rapalas in the Holographic Blue Shad . Trolled between 2 and 3 mph on the gps out in the middle of the lake . Cabela's has them for 1.99 last weekend . I hear ya on the fuel cost . I been wanting to go for some brookies this time of year but might settle for wipers .

[cool]Water is plenty deep right now. You won't have any problems with that this year. That lake is 25 feet deep in lots of places and has plenty of water in the harbors as well. Good luck out there.
