I have a little trouble. I am flying to Washington to go salmon fishing for a week and have no idea what size of rod, line weight, reel and tackle to use. I am going to buy my equipment in hopes to do this more often. I think i am going to be fishing rivers along the Columbia. Any suggestions would help. thank you.[

are you going to be trolling or casting from shore or wading?
makes a differance as to the gear you will want to pick up.
you are corect in wanting to get gear to face what lays ahead of you in that river. we get the 15-25 lb on avarage alaskan salmon, some reaching up to 40-45 pound but are rairly are caught.
you will most likely be faceing 30-65 pound alaskans. there other species native to the regeon as well but do not get as large.
