[font "Arial"]GLENDALE, AZ—Jose DeLeon of Glendale, Arizona, was recently fishing a nightcrawler on Woods Canyon Lake when he landed a state-record rainbow trout weighing 13 pounds, 6.4 ounces. [/font]
DeLeon had the trout weighed on a certified scale at Woods Canyon Lake Store, and soon after Game and Fish biologists in Phoenix confirmed it as the new state record.
The rainbow toppled the previous state record of 12 pounds, 5.76 ounces, a Tempe Town Lake 'bow caught by Brandon Childs of Gilbert in December of 2002.
