Kentofnsl picked me up at about 6 am and we headed out to Strawberry. We were greeted by a wonderfull morning of clear skies and with just a bit of a chill in the air. Just after launching Kent's boat, we passed by CBR who said howdy as he fished in his toon - we never saw or heard him again the rest of the day, as we were on the other side of the lake and most likely out of radio range.
We made our way out to a spot that Kent likes and set anchor and started to jig. The fishing began slow and picked up to sporodic catching of good sized fish for an hour or so then dropped off in that place, so we took off and trolled our way to another part of the resevoir for some more jigging. While trolling, we had a few hits and Kent was able to bring a couple in to the boat - interestingly, those were the smallest fish of the day taken on the largest offerings we used.
At our next stop, the wind had picked up substantialy and clouds started rolling in. We set both anchors and began jigging. Again, the fishing started slowly, but, this time, when it picked up, it was much faster and with consistantly larger fish - I think the largest fish we boated was Kent's 21 3/4 incher, however, we caught several in the 21 to 21 1/2 inch range - some were quite fat. For some time, it was almost constant catching, but, we never had a real double hook-up at any point.
When the wind got strong enough to drag us some 200 feet from our original anchorage, we called it a day.
I am not sure how many fish we boated overall, but we both got well over a dozen each with some really nice ones in the mix. Almost all of our fish came from jigging and all were released to grow some more. Sorry, we were having too much fun and too busy fishing to remember to take any photos this time.
It was a day of great companionship, conversation, fishing and catching on Strawberry !
P.S. Almost forgot to mention - we stopped at the visitors center on the way home and there are still some beautifull red fish in the stream - I did get a photo of them.
