hey I am trying to get a few things done before I head down to powell this weekend and need some expert advice on a few problems I am trying to figure out on the boat. !rst I just picked up a trolling motor from my uncle that I might buy from him and am wondering if it is too short for my boat (it is a 10hp johnson). I am including some pics where I have made a red line where the water line on my boat is. If the mount i have won't work does anyone have or know where I can get one of those mounts that rotate down so I can get the motor where it should be for cheap? #2 I am trying to mount the fish finder i just bought off the board (lowrance X65) and I can't find any intructions for where and how to mount the speed and temperature attachement. I Already have the transducer mounte, but can't find any instructions for the speed attachment,

Take it out to Utah Lake and give it a test run.

If you go over to minnkotas web site they have a sizing chart available to help you figure out what shaft length you need.
All the info you need is the measurment in inches from the bow of your boat to the water surface while tge boat is floating in its natural position.
As far as the speed sensor, you just want to get it even with the bottom of the boat. You want the water to flow across it just like it does across the bottom of the boat. Too high and you wont get it to spin, too low and the wheel wont turn right. the water pressure all needs to be on the bottom half of the wheel.
it doesnt need to be vertical like the transducer, just lined up with the bottom.

[black]I e-mailed you the PDF files of the X-65 manual and the Lowarance PDF file for the the installation of Lowarance speed senors to your yahoo e-mail address. Everything should be there to show you how its done. Its really pretty simple.[/black]

[black]I'm assuming you're talking about a gas kicker and not an electrc? I see no pics at this time so I'm reaching here. You can buy the adjustable motor mounts a lot of places. I know that Lee's Marine has one in stock in his shop. Make sure you check the weight of the motor and that it does not exceed the weight rating of the mount. You should be able to mount a short shaft engine with this type mount and it should work fine. Installation of the trolling motor mount is relatively easy and can be mounted almost anywhere on the transom. If you have questions, call Lee at Lee's Marine and he'll answer your questions. 435-245-7727.[/black]
[black](edit) Now that our pics are up, I beleive it should work. Your intake looks well below the water line and that's what counts.[/black]

Oh, I see, fool me into thinking its an electric.
Just kidding.
I was in gross error.
I would have to agree with BLM, as long as you are sucking water while in operation you should be good.
However, I would be careful about the placement of that spoon!
The crushed beer can is no worry, but a spoon in the prop is the main cause of major malfunction.[
