After installing some nightmare-ish software on my computer Monday afternoon, it would do nothing, so, I took a "vacation". I didn't realize it would last for more than a week, but, I'm glad I got out of the house. Here's a recap of the Utah Lake fishing parts of my fall "vacation" that occured since last week.

10/12 - UL springs area - Float tube.

Half a dozen or so 10 inch panfish sized carp and 1- 26 inch 9 pound Carp on 4 pound line using home made dough bait under a float.

1 - 8 pound channel using the recently caught carp meat.

10/13 - UL springs area - pontoon for more mobility hoping for some walleye action. [Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=12621;]

1 - 4 lb channel using carp meat from day before and 1- 20 inch walleye using plastic.

10/14 - UL(secret spot so don't tell anyone). Took my hounds and self out for a little fishing and a good bark at the world from the bank of Utah lake. Net results - 1 4.5 lb channel, 1 - 4 lb channel and one fair sized mudcat.

10/15 Drove past Utah lake on way to E-lake and Scofield area eating a mixed bag of home made fish sticks - but that's another report.

[cool]Hey, nice report, fishhound! Were you fishing just those 3 days, or was it the whole week? Congrats on the big cats and the eye! Sure is strange that the white bass aren't biting, nor are the 'eyes very much. I don't think I'm going back out there for a while longer until those 'eyes decide to REALLY start biting.

Think I'm gonna go after the slimers at the berry next trip out (hopefully next Saturday a.m.)

I only got that one walleye and not a single white bass - darn it. But the rest of the time was well spent anyway with the kitties.

The carp was definitely the best fight of the week - and exciting as well because of the watercraft I was on, the light gear I was using, and the fact that before that brute, all I had encountered were the panfish sized carp-ettes.

Between E-lake, Schofield and UL sounds like you had a pretty good week. Still seems odd that the walleye never really turned on, but good to seem some cats coming out of the cooler water.

Yeah, it's been a pretty good week - inspite of the computer thing !

This has been a rather "different" year/autumn in regards to the UL fishing for Black/White Bass and Walleyes. I think it might have to do with the big water year we just went through - or maybe I just got conditioned to the drought year's lake levels - don't know - could be water or relative location. Some places just have not been producing this year as they have in the recent past - for some species anyway.

Not so much with channel catfish though - at least not too much, anyway. Some of my "honey holes" and "secret spots" are still doing just fine. It's really not unusual to catch catfish in soft water down to about the low 40's. In lots of places, they can be regularly caught through the ice. Oddly enough, bullheads have been kind of a scarce commodity in my experience this year.

However, in my experience, UL has always been kind of a "different story" in many aspects of fishing for every species in there.
