I've caught plenty of rainbows out of there, a few browns, and lately some nice bass. The other day I caught a pretty nice cutt (±18"). Anyone else catch many cutts there?

They haven't planted any this year or last, so when were they put there? Most of the websites about the reservoir list cutts as species present, but I 've never heard much talk about it.

Anyone have any insight/experience into Jordanlle cutts?

They palnted cutts when they first filled the dam. The first two years it was open we would catch a few each trip. Only caught one the last three years.

I pulled 2 thru the ice this last ice season . Never knew if they planted them but the Provo river held some nice ones before it was built . They are not the bear lake cutt , but might be the yellowstone cutt if I remember right .

If they have not planted the lake in a few years, it could mean that the cutts are spawning successfully. If that is the case that would be great news for Jordanelle. There sure are a lot of different species of fish in the lake that are doing good. WH2

I caught possibly my personal best cutt out of there last year while bass fishing. I didn't catch any cutts there this season. My guess would be that the cutts maintain a low level of population from natural reproduction (spawning in the Provo)and recruitment from fish getting washed down from the upper Provo during run-off.

Yellowstone Cutthroats were never planted in Jordanelle. They planted the exact same Bear Lake Cutts that went into Strawberry for the first few years of Jordanelle's existence. Native wild Yellowstone Cutts might have migrated down the river from the upper provo's headwaters in the Uintahs, however. The first few years that they allowed fishing in Jordanelle, we would catch tons of cutthroats there, near the mouth where Provo River entered. We'd catch more cutts than rainbows at that time. We even caught spawners going up the river to spawn too. Now, however, they are no longer stocked there ( I don't think) but a native population does remain, although they have to compete against yellow perch, chubs, Rainbows, Browns, Smallmouth, and now walleye too for food and survival. I'm sure that has contributed to their decline in numbers.

Sounds like I should consider myself lucky for pulling one out of there. I'm headed back up this afternoon...we'll see what I can shake loose.

I checked the stocking records for this year and last--no cutts planted in either. Don't know that I care either way, as Strawberry seems to be the destination for those after the cutts and it's just up the road.

Excuse me for leading you to think I was saying the DWR planted yellowstone cutts in Jordanelle . I was just saying I remember cutts in the river "Before" the Nelle was ever there . I never heard of bear lake cutts being planted in there in the beginning of Jordanelle but I never knew much about what the DWR did back then . The cutts I have caught out of there since the dam was built did not appear to be the bear lake strain to me . But that is just my humble opinion . I guess I missed out when they opened it up because I never fished it then . I have caught about 15 cutts from Jordanelle since I did start fishing it . I hope they can hang in there with all the competition . You seem to be missing a few species from Jordanelle , largemouth bass and maybe crappie and I know of a bluegill pulled from there .

[#ff4040]I am almost positive there is crappie in jordanelle. I swear I saw one when I was perch fishing earlier this year. I am still trying to get one just to prove there is crappie here.[/#ff4040]

I've heard multiple reports from sources who are reliable confirming Crappie in Jordanelle. But the numbers may be slim at this point. Who knows how things will look next few years. I would love to see those thrive in there. Might be a good change to catch some Crappie in the spring and fall.

No problem! You're right I didn't mention bucketmouths, crappie or bluegill. I agree I'm almost positive they are in there too even though I haven't seen any personally. I too hope the cutts can hang in there. There just might be some monsters lurking in there!
