There is also a report from last Friday on the DWR site from Crankem, he wrote,

I'm glad you were able to get out, what area did you fish and how deep were you fishing? Thanks for the report. WH2

West of the island. The fish seemed scattered. I caught one at 7' on a Shad Rap 7, the rest were between 12-15' on Hot-N-Tot's or Thunderstick Jr.'s.

Very nice pics there Paddler.

Is that a 50 hp tiller you have on your boat?

Thanks for the info, it looks like it was a nice day at the bay. On my last two trips out there I noticed the same thing, scattered fish. We have also caught them in the same depth range but you sure caught them on variety of different lures. Were there many people on the lake?

Yes, that's a 50HP 4S tiller. Great motor, and a great boat. It's an Alumacraft 165 Magnum. I'm sure I've caught more fish in it than the boat weighs. I may sell it, though, as I've ordered a more seaworthy boat and will take delivery soon.

WH2, there were very few people out. Talked with one guy in a Lund who was out for four hours and did nothing.

[black]OK Paddler, you've got me curious ... what is the new boat you will be getting?[/black]

The new boat is a Hewescraft 200 Sea Runner with a 115HP Mercury EFI 4S. It will have a 52 gallon fuel tank, Scotty 1106's, VHF, fancy electronics, etc.

I've been fishing in the Alumacraft for the last six years in the ocean, and have caught tons of salmon. It actually does very well out there. But my wife wants a windshield and better weather protection. I want a boat I can take 50 miles out for tuna.

It should also be good for trolling cranks around here, but won't be as good for rigging for walleye or fishing structure as the current boat. So, I'm torn between keeping it and selling the Alumacraft.
