I fished Lost Creek Reservoir on Sunday A.M. The wind blew, the waves rolled, and the fish bit. At first I was frustrated because going into the wind I couldn't get enough speed to keep my flies off the bottom with my type III sinking line and going with the wind I was WAY to fast (I thought!!). As it turns out, the fish decided that wooley buggers zipping along 2 feet deep at mach 3 was just to tempting to resist. The strikes were so fast and hard it would nearly jerk the rod out of my hand. Cold and windy, but fun as all get out.

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks for stopping by with the report. Any size...or the usual Lost Creek critters?[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Ya never know what those silly fish are going to want. Glad you found some that wanted your "blazing buggers". [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Some guys like to carry a wind sock, if they plan to troll with the breeze and the breeze kicks up. Slowing down the "drift" a bit can sometimes make a big difference in the response. Even dragging a fish basket behind you can help.[/#0000ff]

Hey ole' Buddy!

Nah, nothing to brag about size wise. Largest fish was only 15". All I caught were Cutthroat though. My partner in crime (wades2deep) only caught rainbows.

[cool][#0000ff]Hey, at least you caught something besides hypothermia...or worse. It's amazing what us silly fishermen will put up with when the fish are biting. Of course, hooking a fish has a way of suddenly making an arctic blizzard seem like a tropical breeze.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]It's also surprising how two guys fishing essentially the same way, with the same gear, can each catch different fish...or one catches fish while the other goes zippo. Sometimes it's a very minor difference, like the size or color of the fly...the weight of the line, length of line or leader, etc. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I gave up trying to figure out fish (and women) a long time ago. Just enjoy it while it's there and don't pet the sweaty stuff...or however that goes.[/#0000ff]
