[Smile]I'm thinking of fishing Mantua this week-end. Does anybody know how the fishing is? Any information would be helpful

[cool][#0000ff]I tubed it last Saturday morning...in the snow. Water temp 46, weeds mostly gone except right on the bottom in shallower water. Couldn't find any schools of fish within a half mile circle of the ramp...on sonar or casting. Got a few bitty bass jigging in 8-10 feet.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I think you need to have a boat and do some serious exploring with the sonar to find where the fish are hangin' right now. I suspect that if you find them you can catch a few.[/#0000ff]

I fished Mantua in Sept. from my toon. I don't know how much things have changed sense then. My best luck was going over to the North East side out into the middle in the deepest water that I could find. All the fish were on the bottom. Vertical jigging just like ice fishing worked best. All boats that I saw were doing the same thing. I didn't see anyone trolling. Any small jig tipped with crawler or meal worm worked.
I may be back up there this Thursday for one last try before the ice comes. I have a craving for some perch and bluegill.

[cool][#0000ff]I had planned to work my over in that direction, but the blast of snow pellets and the wind blowing offshore kinda ruined my determination. I felt sure that was where the fish would be. I just did not get a chance to test my theory.[/#0000ff]
