I was wondering the same thing. Usually by thanksgiving somewhere has some safe ice. I am thinking we may be SOL this year at thanksgiving because the lakes have more water which take longer to cool down and the weather has been fairly mild.
Has anyone been by Scofield or Huntington lately to check water temps and conditions???
We need some subzero temps in the mountains real quick!

only in my dreams. I know the mild weather has everyone disappointed, but we'll get a cold snap soon enough and the high lakes will go fast.

The only ice I've seen in the high country(10000ft) but those lakes are not open. I don't expect to do any ice fishing before T-day but things can change quickly with some very cold weather.

[cool]I'm trying to be an optimist here, and so I think Hunington will have ice about a week or two later than normal, which should be by Thanksgiving THIS YEAR, but I think it normally has it about now. I'm thinking of calling Big Pine Sports in Fairview at lunch today.

O4T - Were you able to make that call?
I'm afraid we're going to be behind as well. It's just not been cold.

[cool]Good news fellas...We're finally going to start getting down into the 30's at night in the valley this coming week, which should put the lows at our favorite mountainous ice fishing locations about 20 degrees below that. Have faith guys!

I think with the warmer than normal temps, it will still be a few weeks away. Unless we get a real freezer comin' through, I think safe ice won't be had until after Thanksgiving!

[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, I got one of those 12 volt portable knives too. Works great but I don't like that you have to push two buttons simultaneously with the operating hand to keep it working.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I would love some of those minnows. Hope they are still alive so we can liven up the board again.[/#0000ff]
