ST. HELENS, OR—The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission recently met with the Washington state Fish and Wildlife Commission to discuss management strategies on the Columbia River.

Fisheries staff from each agency gave presentations outlining the status and challenges for Columbia River salmon and sturgeon. Commissioners asked biologists about strategies to protect imperiled fish stocks in the Columbia while allowing productive and equitable harvest seasons on healthy stocks.

Each commission will now accept public comments and then vote on specific proposals that are yet to be developed during future meetings in December, January and February.
