Scouted BC and Woodruff today to check on ice conditions. I went in the afternoon when I knew conditions would be at their worst, ice wise anyway. It's a week to ten days away. Maybe sooner if the cold hangs on. It was 22 degrees at 2:00 when I got there, the ice is formong but it's only a skim at best on the main lakes. Both back bays have what looked like heavier ice so I hiked over to the one at Woodruff to see how thick it was. It's about 2" thick, but I didn't fish it for 2 reasons. First I was alone and didn't want to go out in deeper water. Second, I never caught anything back there.
It looks like the ground still holds some heat especcially around the damm areas. The ice isn't sticking to the rocks or shorelines yet so the tempratures are still not cold enough to overcome the thermal heating.

Thanks for the report I had been wondering what the conditions where up there. Looks like next Wednesday may be a good day to give it a try.

Thanks for the update Scott. I was wondering when you were going to be up there. Kind of a long drive for "scouting".
