Well after givening it much thought on if I dared get my fat butt out on 4 Inches of Ice my friend and I decided to hit the ice at Huntington. The ice was indeed 4 inches maybe 5 at the most and boy did it make ya pucker. I don't think I will be able to go to the bathroom for at least a week.
We hit the ice at about 8:30 and we went to the first point past the damn, we was in 15-18 feet of water. The bite would come and go and when It did you could pull 3 up out of the ice if you connected on each hit. We were using white and Chartruse colored paddle bugs tips with chucks of minnows. We missed alot of hits and also has some that was not hooked well and would get off before they made it out of the hole.
It was neat being able to see the fish coming up and swimming around your hole.
We fished until around 11:30 and boy the ice was noisy. It is not for the faint of heart. You would have the cracks that go right through your hole or right under you and boy you would do a little puckering.
The wind was a little cold and at one point it picked up my chair and skid it all the way back to shore. I was not going to chase after it so it stayed there till we were done.
I took a small video with all of the cool sounds the ice was making I am not sure how to attach it. If someone would help I would appreciate it.
Here is a short video clip of the ice Music

Been there, done that yesterday, still puckering!!!![shocked] Great report!

Not sure what web service you have but you would need to post your video on your own web page and link it . Or that is what I think you need to do .
Ice stopped poping after you left . I bet 80% of everybody on the ice was BFT'ers . I was with the group on the middle pull off and we caught plenty of fish . Bite would be off and on all day but I put 30+ on the ice . Took a couple home for dinner .

Randy, nice fish. Last I checked, that doesn't look like the Berry.

[cool]Nice report, guys. We're going to go up tomorrow (Saturday) during the blizzard and set up the 'ol ice shelters and catch some fishies (hopefully). We'll report when we get back. Hope we catch as many as you guys did today. The snow might quiet down the ice a little bit, but we'll see. I'm sure we'll be doing plenty of puckering out there! LOL!

[cool]Cool video clip. Too bad it's so short. It would be cool to see a fiesty little tiger trout come busting outta the hole too. Can't wait to get out there tomorrow. I'm gonna go get some shuteye now, but I don't know if I'll sleep. I feel like a kid the night before Christmas!!

So are you trying to say that when my fat butt final got off the ice there was that much less weight on the ice so it stopped[unsure]. Man I know I had a lot of turkey but not that much[

].
We parked in the same area and I saw the group at there but the ice was so slick I did not venture out to say hi, sorry. We was in the big red ford that took a few tries to get back to the main road the hard way.

MGB and I also fished Huntington today. I got about 30 on the ice and of course Mike probably caught close to double that. If you go up there go small. Maroubou jigs, forage minnows, small tubes all in white or chartreuse, or rainbow colors worked. Tipped everything with a piece of minnow, meal worm, or nightcrawler. Adding a little flavoring also helps. They seemed to respond well to a lot of jigging. Beautiful day and also talked to several other BFT members out on the ice.

Too bad we didn't get to meet you. I met about six more members today. The fishing was steady almost all day. Like you said schools would come through and you could pick up 3 tigers. When we first got there I seen Carp Punisher and FishLuvr, when the ice poped CP just about fell off his chair LOL.
Here are a couple pics from today, too bad the picture with HA69 fishing with his shirt off didn't turn out.

Wish we'd ran across you guys, would have like to have met you.
My brother Bill and Fuzzy (and his Robert and Tommy) and myself also made the run to Huntington, once again. We shot the bull with several members yesterday, namely, Pikeman, IFG, 3killerbee, fishHound, fishking64, Mgb and Kent. If I'm forgetting anyone, forgive me. It was great to see you guys again and just as great to meet those of you I hadnt met..
We worked the far side of the pond and found the bite hard to come by until around noon then our action really picked up and our bite was pretty constant.. All of our bite came on mini's or parts there of hooked to the standard stuff. I found for myself however simply using a 1/8 once jig with an over sized hook and coupling it with a mini worked just fine.

Sure was a nice day to be out fishing! The wind blew a couple of times, but didn't last long, and the sun was out until later in the afternoon. Met a LOT of BFT'ers out there, it was good to meet you guys. Fishin' was a little slow for our group. I was up there with the IceFishingGod, and one of his friends named Dave. We started on on the south side of the lake and moved around, but had a tough time locating fish. On the way out we ran into MGB, Kentofnsl, Hellsangler69, Buglinforbulls, and some of their family. They were into some good fish, so we sat down for a bit, shot the bull, and landed a few more fish before leaving. MGB, HA and Kent were into the fish on a regular basis. They had the hot little jig. MGB had a really nice fish on the ice. After we left we went to see if Cleveland had ice. It was 2/3 ice and the rest open, so we didn't dare try. We headed home past Schofield, and it only had a couple of protected bays with a little ice. She will cap soon with the arctic air that is moving in. Here is a pic of the smoothest, slickest ice I've ever fished! I was even sliding around with my boot chains!

Thanks for the great trip IFG, and once again it was good to meet all of you out there today.

It sounds like it was a good day for fishing. Did anyone get a picture of the ice with everyone on it? That would have be a sight to see. I wish I could had made it Friday I ended up having my kids help me with raping up the last job for the year. Now I need to get paid so I can go fishing.

hey 3killerbee it was so cool to finley meet you..
i started out down by the dam waiting for coldfooter.. i hit 2 fish 1 was a nice 19" er and a small 16"er.. coldfooter showed up and we went over to the west side to get out of the city by the dam..
the bite was slow at best there.. thats when 3killer and IFG came over to say Hi.. we shot the bull for awhile then we headed down to the point to give it a try.. started marking fish right away.. and it was on.. stayed stedy the rest of the day.. mini's and rainbow tube was what i was getting all my hit's on.. i tryed to go small but not'a it had to be the big 2" tube.. or they would just look at it and then go..
hey MGB that fish looks alot nicer with you holding it up than it did on the ice.. nice fish dude!!

[#505000]I was actually surprised. I didn't have much pucker factor yesterday. The only times it shot up a little is when I could hear a loud crack and FEEL the ice under me shift. I think snowy ice is MUCH MUCH scarier because I can't see what the ice looks like underneath. [/#505000]
[#505000][/#505000]
[#505000]As for about falling out of my chair I was trying to stand up and just kept scooting backwad since the chair didn't have any friction on the ice. [

Silly me! How could I forget to mention talking to you and Don! Shame on me...It was good to meet both of you guys. Hopefully this will not be the last time we see you on the ice. Did you guys end up fishing out of the holes we started in?
[signature]
yeah we went down there right in the spot you guy's started in.. the fish were in there good when we got there..
had to work them some tho to get them to bite.. and like i said they did not want the little stuff it had to be big or the fish turned there nose's on it..
we'll have to get together some time and plan a trip.. as soon as we get some more lakes iced up..
drop me a pm and we'll do fishing!!

I think the ice just settled down around noon . I do remember watching you struggle out of the parking area . I was close by and just put it in 4X4 and it went fine for me . Did you see the [url "http://dwrcdc.nr.utah.gov/rsgis2/Search/Display.asp?FlNm=mustermi"]Ermine[/url] around that area . I tried taking pics but it was a little to dark to get a good pic of him . You can make out his eyes in this pic of mine .

I seen it running around up there a week ago.
