I don't know how fast ice grows, but if it is capped, and its supposed to be 0 degree to - degree temps til Friday ya think it will have 4 inches of ice by Friday? Would much rather hit Mantua for the ice trip on my bday.

Oh I am betting mantua has a mass of fishermen on it this saturday.
I walked on it tonight.
Its clear black ice that is mostly 1 1/2 inches thick.
Luckily I only weigh 2 lbs and have wings.

I'm glad to hear that a lot of places are either getting ice or are REALLY close to getting ice because unlike last year, this will help spread everybody out with so many choices early this year.

[cool]Mateo, I think that right now A LOT of places aren't very far behind (including Lost Creek), although Mantua isn't very deep so that may also have something to do with how fast it's freezing up right now. Lost Creek is quite a bit deeper, but I do remember ice fishing it on December 18th two years ago during James ice fishing class, so the lake is certainly close.

I am A Darn Big chicken at 330# plus I did take two steps out and broke thru the ice and found out there was 3/4" of ice and may boots are waterproof for at least the first 3". [
