Where are the Bolder Mountains?
Can I ride my sleds in?
Are there places to stay the night close by?
Can I catch Brookies through the ice?

I haven't been to the boulders myself, but I know there are alot of lakes that close for the winter up there. Loa, Boulder, and Teasdale are the closest towns, you could probably google search them to find out about lodgings. Didn't make it there this year, but fall fly fishing in the Boulders is a big one on my to-do list.

[black]Here's the seasonal restriction from the proc':[/black]
[black][/black] [black]Seasonal Restrictions: All Boulder Mountain lakes, ponds and reservoirs, EXCEPT Barker Reservoir, Garkane East Fork Impoundment, Garkane Main Impoundment, Lower Barker Reservoir, Lower Bowns Reservoir, North Creek Reservoir, Pine Lake, Posey Lake, Oak Creek Reservoir and Wide Hollow Reservoir (all in Garfield County); and Blind Lake, Coleman Reservoir, Cook Lake, Donkey Reservoir, Miller Lake and Pine Creek Reservoir (all in Wayne County), which are open year-round:[/black]
[black]• CLOSED January 1 through April 21 and November 1 through December 31.[/black]
[black]Here's a link to a Boulder Mountain Lakes map[/black] [black][/black] [black][/black] [black]http://utahoutdoors.com/maps/boulder.htm[/black] [black][/black] [black][/black] [black]and here's a link to lake descriptions[/black] [black][/black] [black][/black] [black]http://www.utahoutdoors.com/maps/boulderguide.htm[/black] [black][/black] [black][/black] [black]You could stay in Escalante and hit Wide Hollow, Barker/Lower Barker, or Posy pretty easy. Man and Mother Nature have imposed fish kills from time-to-time at various Boulder Mountain lakes and reservoirs. I'd call the DWR southern office to get a handle on the fish population in lakes you want to visit before actually making the effort. You wouldn't want to pull up to a dead lake after a long ride on a snow machine.[/black] [black][/black]

If you want to catch some Brook trout, then head to Oak Creek Reservoir. Yes, brook trout are catchable through the ice -- which is the main reason for the seasonal closures on most of the lakes. Brook trout are very catchable -- or, moreso, vulnerable through the ice.
Also, yes, you can snowmachine into Oak Creek, but only when there is enough snow. Currently, you could ATV in to Oak Creek. This is a pretty rough road...
Places to stay will be a bit harder to come by. This is rural Utah, and the tourist season is pretty much over. If you are looking for a motel, make sure you call prior to planning your trip, and make sure that you find a place that is still renting out rooms. Torrey typically has a couple year-round places open.

www.onlineutah.com has lodging in Torrey. There are Comfort Inn, Super 8, Best Western, etc. available at OK prices.
If I remember correctly, some of the upper level roads are not open as they were in the 1993 map that was supplied in an earlier post but that may not make a difference with a snowmobile. Check with the Dixie National Forest guys in Teasdale and they should help you with what roads are still open.
It's a great area but the locals can be pretty protective of their little Slice O' Heaven.

Guys, thanks very much for all the great info. I'm not sure we're headed that way yet. Depends on if the Gorge frezzes, if so my 3 day weekends will be booked. I love going new places and trying new things so I just may end up in your neck of the woods this year. Thanks again.
