Welcome to BFT supperlslammer. It is always nice to see new members on the Idaho board.
I haven't fished American Falls for about 2 1/2 months. I'm sure you could walk on the ice on the upper end of the reservoir but I don't know about the part of the reservoir closer to the dam that most people fish. Just like Ririe, American Falls takes a little longer to freeze over. I heard a second hand report that a guy was fishing open water at American Falls about a week ago but the ice that was there was making it difficult for him to fish. If there is enough ice to walk on the edges will be questionable because the Reservoir is rising.
I will probably go check it out sometime in the next couple weeks. If you here of any reports about the ice conditions let us know. The fishing at American Falls was better for me this past year than it has been for a few years. If we can get more precipitation then maybe American Falls will start to come back. The smallmouth fishing at American Falls was just getting good when the drought started about 5 years ago.
