Decided to go to the berry instead of Scofield and glad I did. I iced 17 fish but nothing over or under the slot. Biggest was 19.5. I did loose one right at the hole that looked like it would go over the slot but thats just a fish story. Caught most of them on a white paddle bug tipped with minnow.

I was at the Marina for about 3 hours and iced 8 over 18". 4 were over 20" and these puppies were fatties. I nailed 7 in 30 mins at one point. I got stripped at least 10 or so times.

I was over by the marina about 100 yards or so out.

Tom, are you fishing with two-pound test mono line again?

I was about 20 feet from the southern pressure ridge. I had the "Artifical Sun" going on a low setting.
Kent, I never. Ever, use anything less than 8lb Vanish at Strawberry. Plus, I was using a medium-heavy 30" rod with a baitcasting reel. I may never use a spinning reel again on ice.

No idea how you hooked that many large fish, but I am impressed!

Great minds think alike!!! I started using BC reels last year and liked it better than spinning reels, less tangle to speak of. I spooled two of them with 4 lb line and had only one break-off so far from a bruiser. Has anybody tried superlines(10/2 or 8/1) for ice fishing?

i spooled two of my reels last year with 10/2 round spider wire, not the flat.the round sure was a lot nicer than the flat.didnt ball up in one plase like the flat.really sensitive but ice doese freez up on the line and i didnt seem to get as many bites withe the spider.maybe just me but my mono will always out fish it.maybe using a mono leader will help.onethings for sure it is tough and not a good chance of breaking a fish off. good luck

This last spring I started using PowerPro, I think that it's 8/1 before that I tried spiderwire and fireline. Fireline is nice but it seems to kind of fray after awhile? The Powerpro is topnotch in my book, it's really strong and the small diameter lets you launch lure etc. Before it I was using berkley XL (spiderwire and fireline didn't do it for me).
I haven't used it ice fishing but cold weather didn't seem to affect it. I use spinning reels and only one time has it tangled coming of the spool. Anyway I like it.
