I have the privilage of getting my daughter this Christmas Holiday. I plan on taking her on her first ice fishing outing. She's fifteen and easily bored. Has anyone got any ideas of the best place I can take her to catch a few in the Cache Valley / Montpelier area? Size does not matter, I just don't want to get skunked or she will never go ice fishing again. You know the teenage girl thing.

Thanks for any information!

If I were you I would just go back to Montepilier Reservoir because it sounds like you shouldn't have much trouble catching fish there. I was at Glendale for a couple hours yesterday and the fishing was ok but the edge of the ice wasn't very good because the reservoir was rising. It was also raining and there is more rain in the forecast. If you are going to be fishing the reservoirs by Preston anytime soon I would recommend that you bring a board to get on the ice. Make sure she is dressed warm enough. If it is unusually cold or windy the day you plan on going it would be better to cancel the trip. Bring some hot chocolate or other snacks.

It seems some of my best ice fishing times has been on Montpelier. It is my favorite place to go when it is sunny and beautiful outside. I have showed up in the middle of the day and still have done well. I wish you a good time and good conversation with your daughter.
