It is the time of year again to start recruiting volunteers to help the Community Fisheries Youth Fishing Clubs. Last year we had roughly 2000 kids in the program. The quality of the program continues to improve every year. This improvement in quality is due to the many great volunteers that back every year. The program lasts 8-weeks and starts in April in many communities along the Wasatch Front. From Brigham City to Salem Utah, the kids, communities, and UDWR need your help. You will be working with other volunteers to teach kids lessons about the environment, fishing and ethics one evening per week. The lessons last 30 minutes or so, then you will work with 5 youth on your "team" on the water of a community fishery. We can only help as many kids as we have volunteers to do so.

Hi Drew. I hope that it will be a great year for the Youth Fishing Clubs. I hope that we will have enough great folks willing to share their time and talents with the youth of this great state.
The Meadow Creek Pond Fishing Club has a lot of excited kids ready for spring and the club to begin. Now all we need are the adults to help these great kids by volunteering to help them.
If anyone is thinking about helping one of the clubs this year, please call or email Drew at the numbers he has listed. If you have any questions about what you would be doing, please call him and get the answers. Please don't let our youth down. Give Drew a call today.

I am a Fishing Club Volunteer for Meadow Creek Pond. Who else is a volunteer and for where?
I am just curious how many BFT members are involved with the program.

Thanks DKStroutfitter and Drew!

I was hoping to come to this thread today and see a long list of BFT members who were involved in this program and posted thier info.
Guys and gals we need to remember that there are many kids out there that would not get the oppurtunity to experience fishing if were not for programs like these. It is essential to our sport to involve future generations.
I hope that I am just preaching to the choir.
Remember the PETA info on this board about 6 weeks ago?

I will be helping out in either Brigham City or Logan. This is definitely a worthwhile cause. I think the most joy I get out of fishing now comes from sharing and teaching others and seeing their excitement as the learn.

I talked with Drew this week and he said that the meetings for the volunteers will be in mid February. I hope that we will see enough people signing up to keep the programs going this year. I'm a little worried about the apathy that I'm seeing right now. We need a lot more help.
Come on folks please help us out and call Drew ASAP!!!

We could sure use a few good volunteers at Bountiful if you guys are interested in driving a few miles. If you are interested please attend an orientation at Bountiful City Hall at 6:00pm on February 1st.

[cool][#0000ff]Bountiful is not far, on 215, from where we live. Better than St. George. I'll mark it on my social calendar. (Just noticed on my calendar that Feb. 1 is Freedom Day)[/#0000ff]

We are still lacking a few volunteers for the Roy Youth Fishing Club. I will say again that we can only help as many kids as we have volunteers to assist them in their learning. The aquatic resources will someday be in our youths hands for, better or worse. I would rather it be for the better.

how many do you need in Roy. I am planning on volunteering in the Roy / clinton area. I may be able to drum up an extra volunteer or two. What are the age restrictions?
[signature]
We could really use 4-5 good, additional volunteers in Roy. As far as age restrictions I have had some really great volunteers, 16-18 years old that worked with their parents, mentoring kids and were fantastic.

Hey Drew it looks like I will be at the Brigham pond again this year.
Hope to see you there!
