[black]Old Coot and I are planning a trip to Bear Lake this Friday in search of the elusive Trophy Macs. The weather we’ve been having conjured up some memories of a trip we took to the beach last year. Since we couldn’t use the ramp we attempted a beach assault. Don’t try this at home kids! Unless you have a spare $125.00 for a Tow Truck.[/black]

[shocked] DUDE! I love to fish, But I have done that only once. I then learned a valuable lesson. I was lucky enough to get a farmer with a tractor to come pull me out over by the old marina straight down off the hill from the Sweetwater trailer park. I hope that only one of those vehicles was yours and the other is of some poor sole that thought his 4x4 could go anywhere. I hope you did not do it two times. Either way, I guess it made a great fishing story and you still had fun. Good luck to you and coot this Friday.

[black]Oh Man Doc, you would have to remind me of that little nightmare. It's those days that make you appreciate the trouble free ones. [/black]
[black]Yea, since the State Marina was frozen solid, Doc Flinn, Bait_Caster, and I decided to give the beach a try. A good Samaritan from Hyrum was up there with his blazer and offered to launch us. But somehow he got stuck up to rear axils in the water and sand. Man I felt bad for him. And me, with my "pizza-cutter" tires, I just cut through the snow right into the loose sand and wasn't going ANYWHERE![/black]
[black]It was a long walk out to get help. Four hours and $125 later, we were finally fishing after launching from the east side. My feet were freezing from being soaked from walking in the knee-deep water. And to make things worse, I don't even remember catching any fish that day (not unusual for me anymore).[/black]
[black]I ain't as hard up anymore for a day of fishing Bear Lake as I was back then and I have a whole lot more respect for that fluffy snow and sand mixture. There is never a trip up to Bear Lake that I don't think back on that day.[/black]

Me and a couple friends of mine were at Blue lake in end of Nov. We decided to go fish the little pond to the south before we left. Shortly after my first cast some guy came up to me and asked if we could help get his friends get unstuck, I didn't want to honostly, but I know what its like to be stuck so I said sure, as long as I dont get stuck. On the left side of the boardwalk about 50' is a trench that is about 4' wide 3' deep and about 15' or so wide. It is is filled with soft mud with 3" of water on top so it looks solid. perfect size for a early 80s 1/2 ton chevy. I gave it my best in 3/4 cummins but that dude was stuck! He ended up getting a tow truck out of Bendover. The fluids coming out his vehicle couldn't have been a good sign looked like a cross between oil and shaving cream[shocked] that cant be good. Be warned blue lake eats vehicles.

[angelic] Hey Coot, Sorry dude, I didnt recognize that white ford as yours until i read your post. There are those who have been in that kind of mess before and those who will. Its just a matter of time.

You guys kinda went the wrong way about launching at the beach.
I've done it lots of times with no problems. you have to walk your boat down still on the trailer with some help, keep your truck up on level ground.
when you dock you boat, put in on the trailer and use your anchor rope tie to you hitch and drag the trailer up to level ground with your truck. you just need help guiding the boat and trailer up the shore. maybe be this will help on the next trip. later chuck
