I'm heading out fishing tomorrow and am thinking about passing on the berry until the slush hardens up a little and was wondering if anyone has any updates on conditions around Lincoln? I know a few weeks ago there was a huge ice dike that was tough to get over. Is it possible to get over? Has anyone fished recently? what's the ice like in the harbor? Any update would be helpful.

Phill, I would be surprised if you find any ice at Lincoln Beach, unless you carry some yourself in your cooler.

[cool][#0000ff]I was down last Friday (12/30) and the ice was breaking up...very thin where it still existed. There were some good open areas out in front of the launch area, but the launch area still had about two or three inches of rotten ice. (see pics)[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am guessing that with the continued warm temps and the high south winds of last week that most of the LB area is clear. On Channel 2 news last night, the picture from the top of the mountain, looking down on the lake, looked like the whole Utah Lake was ice free.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The "secondary" launch spot, down past the L, was choked with windblown ice chunks. That may or may not have changed.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]As soon as I get rid of my cold, I plan to do some "exploricatin'" down there. Got a bunch of whites and a few early walleyes before the end of January last year, when the ice cap broke up.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The water level is already higher than it got during the runoff last summer, so it might be a high water year.[/#0000ff]

I'm not looking to ice fish, I was more interrested in the wading possibilities, both out from the L and near the first springs. My main concerns with the ice is that I can get over the ice dam and if the rotten ice in the marina had reduced enough to cast. I'll probably end up doing a little exploring and maybe throwing in my flyrod and slipping up the canyon and hitting the lower provo a little on my way home.
