Can anyone give me directions to Roberts? How big are the perch there, are there any of size? What do you guys use? Any info is appreciated.

I have been out to Roberts several times this Winter, and the perch fishing has been very good. I was there this past Friday, and it seemed to be the slowest of all the times I have been there, but I still iced quite a few. First of all I like to use small chartruse jigs, with a small rubber tail with a meal worm that has its head removed. If I have not had a hit within a minute or so I usually jig a couple of times or pull my line all the way out then back in again and it seems to liven them up. Catch rates are really high and most fish have been near the 5-6 inch range, with a rare one near 8-9. I know Windriver, and BSflies have been out here a bunch so you might want to PM one of them.

Mud Lake seems to be a better option if you are going for size, but I have quite a few bags of perch in my freezer from Roberts. Also trout action can be really good as well, but no fish are of any significant size.

As far as going to Roberts, if you are coming from IF use the Osgood exit and turn immediatly left on Frontage Road and drive for about 4-5 miles and look for the F&G sign. If you go all the way to Roberts the town from IF you will actually pass Roberts Pond on your right and travel another 3 or so miles to Roberts itself, and from there take a right on the Frontage Road for about 3 miles to the same F&G sign. If you are coming from Rexburg drive to Rigby, and take Highway 48 West bound and drive 14 miles and take a left when you cross the tracks and the drive about another three miles to you reach the sign and take a right.

Good Luck,

Ovid Creek
