Fished the marina today in my top secret spot (ya right!)[]. We started about 6:45 to 15 degree temps and a moderate W... Because of the wind we set up the tent and hunkered down. We fished 23 feet deep and used tubes and paddlebugs tipped with mealy and minnows. I was fishing with a friend that had only ice fished one other time and hasn't fished at all for 5 years. He struggled to set the hook and keep the tension on them. So our hook up to land ratio was not good. I let him land (and lose) several of the fish I hooked. We ended up puting 10 cutts on the ice with the biggest being 21 3/4 with a tail squeeze and the smallest 16 inches. The rest were 18-20.

We should have moved around a little bit and tried some other depths but once the tent is set up it takes an act of congress to move it and it was a lot warmer inside than outside so we just enjoyed the warmth and a few fish.

The ice is in great condition with no slush, 15 inches deep, and about 3-4 inches of snow on top. Easy walking, sledding, or wheeling.

Dang W... anyway! Sure makes moving around a pain if you have the shelter setup. Were you graphing alot of fish? Man were they hugging the bottom yesterday. Occasionally one would fly by at 10', but most were cruising dead on the bottom.

We did not graph a lot of fish overall. 75% of the fish we saw on the finder hit our offerings. The other 25% would come in for a close look and then turn their noses up like fish snobs do and swim away.[] I saw one fish at 10 feet and then one other fish that tried to eat my transducer twice [shocked] but other than those everything was right on the bottom.

I really should have moved around and checked some other depths for more fish. I know they are there somewhere! Thats easy to say now sitting in my nice warm office! LOL
