No, but I'm just dying to get a free moment, this trying to do graduate school with 3 kids is killing my free time. I'm hoping to hit it this Saturday for a couple of hours in the AM, but things seem to always come up.

Let me know if you can get away.
I'll either try Hyrum or go to Mantua again this Saturday. I know how it goes with 3 kids and school. My problem now is work, and Saturdays are my only days off this month.
Fish on!

It looks like I really am going to make it out! My dad is coming up this weekend and wants to fish too. Now the problem is deciding between Hyrum and Mantua. My dad is spoiled as he fishes Strawberry and Deer Creek very regularly and catches a lot of good fish, I feel a lot of pressure anytime he wants to come up here cause it doesn't compare to what he is used to. So where should I take him Mantua or Hyrum? I've never ice fished Mantua and only caught little gills there this summer when we took the kids. Can we get some bigger ones, or even trout? Or will I be better off going with my familiarity with Hyrum?

Well Jethro, I haven't heard any reports whatsoever for Hyrum Res. I think me and my 9 yr old will try Mantua in the morning. I work nights, so I probably won't get up there until 9:30 or 10:00 a.m.
I think we'll try over on the east side, since that's where most people are catching the bluegills and trout.

Well we started at Mantua at about 8, after an hour we had one 4" perch and had lost a bass at the hole. Looking around we didn't see anyone else doing much better so we decided we might as well check out Hyrum. Good choice!!! In about 2 hours we caught somewhere around 30 bows each. They ranged in size from about 10" - 17" with most at about 14". They are some firm fish. Hyrum has still never dissapointed me! Did you do any good down at Mantua?

I wish we would have tried Hyrum! All we got was one decent sized bass, and even worse, we had to deal with all the slush! Some people next to us caught lots of gills and a big trout. We were using the same thing too- any hook tipped with a wax worm. Location is the key to success there at Mantua.
I'm glad you caught at those bows! I think Hyrum will be our next stop!
Any place better than any other on that reservoir?
