Hope to hit Strawberry Tuesday and for the first time have use of some 4 wheelers. Would like to move away from the normal crowd spots but not sure which way to go and how far. Have only fished in the marina and Mud Creek in the past and could only go short distances. Probably park at the marina. Not looking to goto the end of the world but would like to try somewhere new. Some simple directions or a gps coordinate to a general area would be nice. Thanks.

I have done really well all around the bathrooms at Haws Point.

Did very well last weekend southeast of the meadows in 40ft of water.

Might want to check the posts or hopefully people will post up, but I think 4 wheelers might be tough with all of this snow on top. It's pushin 12" of fresh powder. Don't know how well they will run. Snowmobiles might have beaten down a good path though by then. Just a thought. Hate to have you stuck to far from the marina!

Good luck fishing and I hope you get into them.

I was up there yesterday with my 4 (Honda Foreman 500) wheeler. No problems anywhere on the ice. There is probably 6 inches of snow sitting on the ice. We drove from the marina south across the lake around the point and further south to the next bay. Really not that familiar with the berry to tell you where we were. Wheelers were all over the lake. We were riding double pulling 200 lbs plus of equipment behind in a sled. I found that the wheeler did better in the fresh snow. Go have a good time, but it may not be too much longer before the snow has the wheelers locked out.

The wheelers are usually make it or break it due to excess slush or snow. Sounds like things are OK right now, and will likely improve until the next wave of storms rolls in. Good luck and have fun.

Does anyone know if the pressure ridge out from the marina has finally froze over?

Just a side note to my above post. As I read other posts, the claims are 12 inches of snow. Don't know if over by the marina the snow blows off or if the others are exaggerating, but we carry a shovel with us and scrape the snow off the ice to setup the small tent. There was only 6 inches at best of the snow in the areas we visited. Good luck and happy fishing.

Spyder-
My dad and I are going up also on Tuesday. We were thinking about snowshoeing into a spot that I have not tried this year but has been very good in the past. But getting there on a wheeler would be easier than shoeing it. If you wanna give us a lift over there on the wheelers I can do better than a GPS coordinate.... I will be your guide! Let me know! It would be fun to fish with you again.

The only pressure ridge I saw was way south down by the point. It looked frozen, but they are dangerous and I always avoid them. I've watched people walking over them fall through even when the ice appeared to be in excess of 6 inches and no standing water. I drove up on the shore and around it. I noticed those that followed me did the same thing. You could see that it was frozen slush at one time since the last storm. No standing water that I could see. There were several snow mobiles and a few wheelers that drove straight thru further out towards the middle. Do what you feel safe in doing.
