I've read about a few things that people use, for the life of me I can't figure out what a Water Cricket really is and where to find them. Could someone help me out? I'm a little out of the loop apparently.

A "watta cricket" is a small plastic jig. James at Hooked Fishing Tackle in Kaysville was the only one to sell them, but recently the dudes at Angler's Den in Riverdale started selling them.

Here is a picture of a white watta cricket. They don't come with jig heads BTW.

Thanks for the pic! Now, what's a booger? I just use regular jigs and stuff. I have started using minnow jigs from Cabelas and those Storm Lures that look like bluegill. That's done pretty well last year but this year things have been a little different. I need to expand things a little bit. Thanks for your help

The lure in the above post is a booger. The watttsa cricket looks like a paddle bug.

I see the problem now. Whatta Crickets and Boogers are both James' inventions. The picture above is a cricket. The booger has a smaller ribbed body with similar legs. There is no real magic to them but they do work as well as any jig that I use. I like the movement the legs have when you twitch your rod slightly. Some days one will out do the other and some days a plain tube jig works better than either the cricket or booger. You should include both in your plastic assortment, but don't rely on them only.
White works best for me and James does best with green so get both!

[red]The above picture is actually a white whatta cricket. The boogers look similar, but different. James at Hooked has both styles in white, pearl, and glow. I have had a lot of success with them. Definitely on rockport and East canyon this year. [/red]

Here is a pic of a green watta cricket next to a white booger...the tails on the white booger got a little friendly with another chartruesse jig, so they mingled a little. Once again, they are sold as plastic only, so you supple the head.

You are pretty close to me ... I still have a couple packs of Whatta Crickets stashed and will share if you want to give me a holler when you are up Preston way.
