[cool][#0000ff]Just got back from a couple of days familyizing in Phoenix. Came through Yuma on the way home. 75 degrees out in the desert. Might go back.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Swung by to look at Yuba on the way home. It was 17 degrees at the launch ramp at noon today. Several folks fishing the open water off the ramp. There were a couple of rainbows to 4# caught today, on powerbait (chartreuse and rainbow). Supposedly an 8 pound hog caught there yesterday.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Ice skirt out from the dam, and in several areas around the open water at the dam end. Ice cap from Walleye Point clear up past Painted Rocks, according to a couple of the "ramp tramps" who had come in that way. They also said that 9 mile was capped.[/#0000ff]

Thanks for the report and pics of Yuba, makes me think I'll cut more firewood and stay warm a little while longer before launching.

How much do you have to pay to park in there by the ramp?

[cool][#0000ff]It is a Utah State Park. I buy an annual pass so I don't pay much attention to the day rates, but I think it is $6 at Yuba.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you do not want to pay the fee, there are several free parking and access places along the road between the park and the dam, where you can walk down and fish off the bank. In fact some of the best bank fishing has historically been off the rocks just east of the dam. Right now it is snow covered and dangerous to get down there. However, there were a couple of guys that had gone down and were fishing off the bank about a hundred yards farther east. That whole bank has a lot of gravel on the bottom, unlike many other areas around the lake. That seems to attract and hold rainbows. Right now the fish are getting ready to spawn and some may be coming into those gravel bars with spawning in mind.[/#0000ff]
