[cool][#0000ff]On the way back from Arizona, I turned off to look at Lindon. A sheet of thin ice over the entire harbor and the whole north end of the lake appears to be capped with thin and broken ice sheets.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I walked down the gated access road to the bubbleup and took a picture looking out along the pipeline. You can see it under the ice, but as you can also see, the water already covers it and is way up into the reeds already.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Saw a couple of guys walking on the ice inside the reed line to the south of the bubbleup.[/#0000ff]

Hummm I wonder how thick the ice is there. Would be fun to try to ice fish the bubble up. Oh welcome back to the land of cold and haze.

Glad you made it back OK. I'll bet the little respit to the warm weather sure was pleasant.

[cool][#0000ff]I did not have an auger, boots or enough brass to get out on the ice to check thickness. However, it has been frozen for a ways out from the reeds for a while, even before the last cold snap. I'm betting that there is walkable ice for at least a ways. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You probably can't tell in the picture, but it did look like broken or open ice out around the end of the pipe. Probably not safe there. There is still a small inflow of water and that acts like a warming spring beneath the ice. Don't think I'll be checking it out for you.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, there were spring flowers and trees blooming in Phoenix and along the road to Yuma. Felt good to have to roll the window down to stay cool.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Only bummer was the 30 mph headwinds we hit almost all the way up from Yuma to Las Vegas. Rock and roll.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It was windy as we left St. George Tuesday morning too. Drove over by Quail Creek and there was popcorn (whitecaps) from one end of the lake to the other. Nobody fishing.[/#0000ff]

HEY DUDE HOW FAR AWAY IS THE WATER FROM THAT BIG SQARE SLAB OF CONCREET? IT DOES LOOK TO BE FULLER THAN THE PAST 2 YRS. BUT IM GUESSIN ITS STILL A WAYS AWAY FROM THE SLAB. PROBLEY ABOUT 6 FT LOW STILL. MY BIGGEST WALLEYE EVER CAME FROM JUST INFRONT OF THAT SLAB.
[signature]
[cool][#0000ff]I'm guessing the water level is only about a foot or so down from the slab. With the water level as high as it is already, I would bet that it will get up there before the end of runoff time.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Wouldn't recommend that you cast in front of that landmark right now. Looks kinda snaggy. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I don't know if you fished that area last year or not, but there were a lot of walleyes all along the pipe. The minnow soakers hauled in a grundle of fish. They were also pretty plentiful both inside and outside the harbor and especially over in front of the "creek". I know several guys fishing for white bass or cats all up along the north shore last year that caught quite a few by accident.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I am betting that the walleye fishing is going to be better there this year than at LB. It was also good along the west side last year and should be worth some more attention this year.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]When are we going?[/#0000ff]

WELL ITS STILL A A MONTH AWAY FROM WHEN I START TO FISH EYES OUT THERE. MID FEB IS WHEN I HAVE ALWAYS STARTED THE HUNT FOR EARLY EYES. I ALSO HERD ABOUT A KILLER BITE ON BIGGER FISH LAST YR. IM NOT GOING TO POST THAT ON THE BOARD BUT YOUR WELCOME TO JOIN IN WHEN IT STARTS TO HAPPEN. IVE NEVER FISHED THE WEST SIDE AT ALL. I KNOW SOME GUYS THAT KILL THE EYES FROM A CANOE ALONG THE BULLRUSHES SOUTH OF SARRATOGA. BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO FISH THE WEST BANK. WAS THE BITE OUT BY THE YAUGHT CLUB? SOME NICE LOOKING ROCK POINTS OVER THERE. BUT ANY SUNDAY FROM MID FEB ON IM HOT FOR EYES. PM ME WITH THE INFO FOR THE WEST BANK AND ILL LET YA IN ON THE OTHER BITE THATS POST SPAWN.

[cool]Very nice work, Sensai TubeDude. Seeing that pipe makes me really hungry for some more fishin' for my arch nemesis (the walleye)!

Can't wait to chase them in a month or so. I need to drop by your house so you can modify my round head and minnow head jigs to accomodate the 1/0 and 2/0 hooks on the 1/16 oz heads. Think I'll give ya a call soon.

You heading out on the ice after some warm water fishies soon?

[cool][#0000ff]Not soon enough. It will probably be about mid February before it is both feasible and possible. I am currently busy with a lot of new BFT responsibilities and it would probably be a good idea to wait until Mama Nature quit being such a "mother".[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Give me a call whenever you are ready and we will work on your "walleye weapons"...of mess destruction.[/#0000ff]
