nektoober , a new member has posted link to view his fish , a fish that I belive is a salmonide ( trout or salmon )of some kind . you can see the fish by visiting the last page of the 16 species fishing contest held this year .
I'm pretty curious on what the name and species of this fish is , can anyone identify it ?

Hey lonehunter. You were right on the money as to the Salmonoide Family. That fish happens to be a Taimen. The are the largest in the world of the Salmonoide family.

The one in the pictures isn't even 40lbs yet. Those bad boys can put the King, Koke, Chinook and all others to shame with 220lbs being fully grown.

Those are some good game on a flyswatter. I would love to tube for some of those bad boys.[cool]

They are common in Mongolia as well.[Wink]

Thanks !
I'm with you , That would be a challange bringing in one of those and at 220 , it might just be the ultimate fishing trip of a lifetime [Smile] .
Como'n lottery numbers , lonehunter wants to go fishing in mongolia [cool] !

That's one of the things that I enjoy about saltwater fishing. I can fish for sharks and be surprised at some monsters or dismayed by some guppies. All in my own backyard.

I would like to go to Mongolia myself. I would also love to go for some of those big Cats that they have over there.[cool]

I did a little reading on the Tiamen , and saw a bunch of pics of the little ones , 10 to 40 lbs .
They get up tp 250 lbs [shocked]. They are the prehistoric ansisters of all trout and salmon species .

Americans are going over and paying about $5,500 just to fly fish for one , this dose not include air fare , ground travel , or lodging .

Bait of choise , prarie dog , now how would you tie a prarie dog fly [crazy]? Better yet , the arbor and rod needed should set you back a whole bunch of rubels .

Budist monks are now being recruted to watch over these fish and protect them from poachers and to educate fishermen into practising catch and release before the species becomes extinct .

Entertainment does have it's price. It is unfortunate that the majority of the C&R over there is Catching the Prarie Dogs and Releaseing them on the end of your line into the water.

I saw a documentary on them not to long ago. They were even using rabbits when they ran out of Prarie Dogs.

I wonder if we could use Chihuahuas or Pomeranians.[Wink]

I kinda wish we had some of those fish in some of the streams around here , I have plenty of skunks running around to use as a stink bait [laugh].
