Fished Wallsburg today for about 2 hours (2-4 Pm) and the fishing was good but not fast. Caught 4 nice rainbows and seven perch. The ice is about 6 inches thick with a trace of snow. Fished the Island Tuesday and the ice was scarey. only about 4 inches of ice with soft edges. Fishing was slow but did manage to catch a 13 inch perch. Nice to know that the perch are alive and well.

Thanks for posting the report Ice_sled, a 13 inch perch is a nice one, what were you using? How big were the bows? WH2

I have never ice fished Wallsburg Bay. Where do you park to access the ice? The State Park area?
Thanks for any advice.

You can park right off the main highway, east side of the bay. Just look for the public restroom. Its a short hike down the hill and onto the ice.

The rainbows were about 16 inches. I caught them on waxes and mealworms and perch eyes.

Great report! It is wonderful news for several reasons to hear that a few perch are coming out of DC. Way to go on the trout too. How deep were the fish in Wallsburg? I tried the "island" also a couple weeks ago and it was slow for me too. Usually, that is a money area for me.

Fished Wallsburg on Saturday and the fishing was slow but our group managed to ice some really fat bows in the 17-18 range plus a few perch. We were fishing in about 34 foot of water. With small jigs tipped with meal worms and perch eyes. Fished for about 3 hours in the Am. Seemed to be the coldest day of the season!
