MADE IT UP TO BEAR LAKE THURSDAY TO DO SOME ICE FISHING. STARTED OFF JUST OUT OF GARDEN CITY. WE HAD TO CROSS MULTIPLE FAULTS TO GET OUT TO DEEP ENOUGH WATER AND AFTER A FEW SHIFTS WE DECIDED WE BETTER GET OFF WHILE WE STILL COULD. NEXT WE HEADED FOR THE EAST SIDE AND AFTER TOSSING A SMALL ROCK OUT AND WATCHING IT DISAPPEAR THROUGH THE ICE WE DECIDED THAT IT WASNT THICK ENOUGH EITHER. OUR LAST RESORT WAS A GOOD ONE. WE ENDED UP CATCHING 9 FISH BETWEEN TWO OF US FROM 11-4 WITH THE BIGGEST BEING A 9LB LAKE TROUT. NOT A BAD END TO A ROUGH START. I DONT IMAGINE THE ICE IS GOING TO LAST MUCH LONGER UP THERE.
