Ok Folks, Here's one to make some of us strain our brains! Who remembers the first fish they ever caught? If you remember, lets here it.

My first freshwater fish was a Rainbow Trout caught out of Lake Cachuma in SoCal. I was around 2yrs old at the time.
I'm not sure what my first Saltwater species was or when it was caught. Maybe TubeDad can fill in that one for me.[cool]

[green]Although I might be older than all of you guys I can still remember my first catch. A Sunny. Don't recall how big it was for that would be asking too much. My tackle was a long piece of thin string, rusty hook and a dough ball. I probably was 6 or 7 yrs old. Oh yes it was C&R. My first salt water catch was a flounder caught in Long Island Sound. That was a big day for me because my Dad took me fishing in a little boat he rented. That was the only time that I went flounder fishing.[/green]

I remember my first fish was a blue gill. My grandpa and uncles took me and my brother fishing with them. I used my uncle's pocket fishers. I rememberit because I was the only one who caught a fish.
Blue gill for me as well at my grandpas cottage with black nylon line and hotdog for bait. Salt was with the other grandpa flukeing in Long Island Sound as well. Where did you go on the sound Dryrod? And of course you'er old enough to remember catching ALOT of flounder.

[green]Hey there gdn443 - Sorry don't remember where we went fishing. To me it didn't matter where by that we were going. It seems to me that we were in a bay area.[/green]

My Dad started me fishing when I was so young I couldn't really even hold the pole. I do not remember my first fish. The first one that I do remember was probably when my dad took me to a small roadside reservoir in NE Utah near Roosevelt and we cast out worms under a bobber and caught lots of big bluegill in an area with lots of trees growing in the water. I think it might be called Monet's Creek Reservoir. I don't think I've ever been there since.

My own son, who will be 2 this summer, will not remember his first fishing trip either. I took him twice last summer to a couple of local ponds and caught some small bass and green sunfish, which he loved!! I can't wait till he's old enough to do it on his own!
Here he is:

Hey catman. PM me your address. I was sent a small hat by mistake. It won't fit my fat head but it should be just right for the cat_boy.[cool]

OH LET ME SEE[laugh] oh yeah since i am a young guy it wont be that hard to rember I think it was a LIMB BREAM, bream is what northen people call a sunfish. AND a limb is a branch of a tree but my first fish was a bream any way but I was so happy that day it was like heaven[angelic].

mine was a rainbow trout. like sailfish4me i was in heaven the first time i went fishing! its hard to beat that kind of fast action for a little kid. i took my neice fishing a couple of years ago when she was 4. shes 6 now and still talks about how she was the first one to catch a fish that day. even though shes been plenty of other times since, she remembers her first time out. i know i still remember mine!

A wormy ol'Jackfish from the Red River. I was three I think. I remember the bobber going down, realing the thing in. It was the size of my leg (which was huge to me at the time. Maybe a one pounder?). I wouldn't let my dad throw it back, and he didn't want to eat a wormy fish, so he tricked me by throwing the thing out when I wasn't looking, and buying some captian Highliner....I was hooked on angling ever since. (In my older younger years it was a great way to escape chores at Grandpa's Cottage)

The first fish I ever caught was a catfish, I was about 10 Years old. My Neighbor back east had a tiny little pond, So I decided I was going to get me a fish!,, I didnt have a pole or anything, But, My neighbor did have a few hooks laying around so I got a big ole stick & some string & tied a hook on it. My stick & I caught 3 catfish that afternoon. By the way, that was the first time I ever attempted to fish.
