[cool]We[#ff0000] [/#ff0000]fished Monday with the Fred Williams party, west of Wiggins Reef in 34 feet, with live shrimp. We caught keeper mangrove snapper to 14 inches, sheepshead to 14 inches, triggerfish, and grouper shorts, which we released. We were in 3 foot seas, with a 15+ knot cold, northerly wind. Cold water temperatures make for a soft bite, which is challenging, but action was steady. Wednesday, we braved the cold with Jeff Elzinga party. Predictions for 2-3 foot seas were under-estimated—We faced 3-4 foot swells, sloppy on top, with white-caps all day, fishing in 30 feet by Wiggins Reef. We managed to boat a few keeper mangrove snapper, grunts and sheepshead, using shrimp. Dale Chorba and Tom Schrader fished with us Thursday, at the Bonita reefs off New Pass. We caught large sheepshead to 22 inches, and released mangrove snapper, triggerfish and gag shorts.
