Hit UL yesterday morning. Stopped by the river headgates by the pumphouse--beautiful, they're wide open & lettin' out one heckuva flow. That sure won't hurt the river fishing later on when the flow goes down. Tried the breakwater at the new Saratoga marina for a couple hours, nothing. Went to PBH & fished the lake side of the north breakwater for about 3 hrs. Saw a bunch of bullheads caught & one channel. Never had a bite myself.

I got bored sitting watching my poled doing nothing so I went & asked the park ranger for some trash bags. Figured I'd pick up trash after the human kind of trash around where I was fishing. Geez, I couldn't believe it. In about 150 yd. on just one side of the road I gathered up 5 bags of stuff. I can't believe the ignorance of some people. Are they lazy or just stupid enough to think that if they throw it into the brush it'll "go away"?

I've done this for quite a while when I go bank fishing & wonder if a challenge to all of us BFTers to kinda make it our group cruSade could make a difference. That park ranger was tickled to death to get me some trash bags & was kinda apologetic about the mess & said they just can't keep up, try as they might.

Had another thought. If all of we BFTers bought us one of those small aluminum ball bats to use on them that is fixin to leave stuff layin around, could we make a difference?

Whooeee, I sure got on a soapbox here didn't I? Anyway, the weather was beautiful yesterday & the fishing was great. Catching sorta sucked for me but it was still great to get out.

[font "Comic Sans MS"][black][size 3]You stay on that soapbox, GEEZER. It's a worthwhile thing to mention and remind folks. Thanks![/size][/black][/font]

To bad your good deed went unrewarded. [unsure] But oh well you shall be gifted with many fish this season. [Wink] I have experienced the same at lincoln 2 years ago when the water was still low.Me and the family would pick garbage up while the bite was slow and we were not jigging and throw it away.I also used to tell people if they get caught it was a $500 fine. And all was needed was their license plate and a witness hint hint.[cool] There are not enough wildlife officers to enforce the law everywhere but they should at least make a showing every so often and ticket people so it makes others think twice about littering.Just my 2 cents worth.

[cool][#0000ff]Sorry you got only some exercise and fresh air, but happy you did your good deed for those of us who (like yourself) don't enjoy fishing in trashy areas. Good on ya.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have never had to use a baseball bat to enforce my demands for someone to pick up their trash, but I have had some near encounters. Some people seem to believe that the whole outdoors is their private garbage dump. I once heard a guy tell his kid to "Just leave it there. Someone will pick it up." I made sure that someone was him, and I hope my "choice words" made the right kind of impression on the youngster.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Very few of us get excited about bullheads biting, but they are kind of an indicator. Once they warm up enough to start biting, the channels and others are not far behind. I remember many years ago, usually about mid April, lots of people would come down to fish in the Provo Harbor at night, just for the bullheads. They were so thick at times you could haul them in two at a time on tandem rigs.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Stay on that soapbox. Makes you look taller.[/#0000ff]

real good job on your efforts
theres a small res. in tooele that you have to pay to drive up the canyon to fish the inlet end unless you walk anyway i fished up there in the past quite abit and when my friends and i went we asked for trash bags instead of paying and always got in for free.
its harder to litter than pick it up and pack it out in my opinion

Strong work on the trash detail. I wish people would learn to pick up after themselves, it really isn't that hard. Thanks for your effort, and for the fish report.

Thanks for the reminder and good deed . I'll pack some trash out next time I go out .

[cool]Nice report, Geezer. I need to start carrying a bag or two with me in the future when I go down there. Your soapbox talk is just fine with me. Preach on, brother! Some ignorant people need to hear it, and I'm sure some of those types of people do hit this site once in a while to hear what spot they can go substance fish and molest next.

On a more positive note, I'm looking forward to my postponed trip (from today's cancellation) out to Lincoln Beach next Saturday. Forcast is for sunny skies and 58 degrees. Hope the W stays away. Speaking of preaching though, I think I'll bring along a little tiny am radio to listen to Conference on while I'm reeling in the cats. Anybody else wanna go chase kitties (and 'eyes, if they are biting) next Saturday w/me? Don't worry, I'll keep my tube far enough away (and the volume of the radio down low enough) that you won't have to listen to any preaching that you don't want to. Can't wait to catch my first kittie of the year from the tube. WEW-HEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the novel, I'm just dang excited to get out on the softwater already!!!!!! Sitting at home today listening to the wind howl sucked![pirate]

[cool][#0000ff]Maybe we can work something out next Saturday. You can stake out a zone where you fish and listen to your "sounds". The rest of us will fish the perimeter and catch the fish that are swimming away to escape your broadcast.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Good chance I will be afloatin' LB next Saturday too, but I will start early in the rocks past the springs. I know where they are planting it this week (yeah, right). Might hit the kitty zone later, depending on depending on.[/#0000ff]

[font "Comic Sans MS"][#ff4040]I might be out tubin at LB on Saturday also. Depends on the weather, if it's windy then I'll probably just wade it. I'm hoping the walleyes will be doin their thang so I can hook into them. Maybe if they aren't, and if I'm tubin, I will roll with TD to that cat spot.[/#ff4040][/font]

[reply I remember many years ago, usually about mid April, lots of people would come down to fish in the Provo Harbor at night, just for the bullheads. [/reply]

That's just the problem with trash, people trash it at night, no witnesses, no license number. It's frustrating when people just fish and leave crap at night.

This saturday it's Lincoln or bust! My boat's coming out of the garage...[cool]

[cool]I'm sure I'll probably see you and TD out there. I am going to start out over by Lindon, but I think if the it's slow then I'll pack up after about an hour or two an head for Lincoln. Hope we get into something. Heck, at this point, since it will be my first time out on the sofwater this year, I think I'd even settle for a buglemouth bass (aka carp) to tow me around in my tube. Sure would be nice to hook into an 'eye though...
