Do any of you use a generator for your RV? I am looking for a good
used one and wondered if you had any suggetions.

I am looking for a 3500 Watt or bigger. If I had my choice it would be a Honda or Yamaha. However, they are just too expensive.

Any other suggetions? Is there a comparable model, that is also quiet?? Thanks

I just bought a Kipor 3000Ti. It looks identical to the Honda suitcase style only its Yellow. It started right up out of the box and starts up with first pull everytime.

Do you know the decibal level. i have looked at these and was wondering if they are as quiet as the honda. Also, where did you buy it?

Thanks again.

Take a look at this one.

Decibal levels go from 58-64, which is actually very similar to the Honda. While the generator is running, you can stand next to it and easily carry on a conversation with someone without having to raise your voice.

p.s. shot you a pm with sellers info.

I've been thinking of buying one myself. A friend of mine turned me on to a catalog company called Sportsman's guide. I havent bought mine yet (looking at the 2000 watt model) so I cant speak to the quality but looks like some pretty good deals.

Heres a link...

Thanks to everyone for your advice.

Pink,

I wonder what the decibal range/noise level is. If it is close to
the Honda, it would be a great deal

Bearclaw .... how durable are the controls, components, plastics etc. on the Kipor? Sure sounds like a good unit but has no track record in the U.S. and I can find no history on it for any other country. I will buy one if I find out the longevity of the unit.

Hello Guys,
Just saw this post and wanted to give you a heads up that one of our Wiper Tourney sponsors sells these (Kipors and other generators) as cheap as you can get anywhere. I am sure if you found them cheaper he would match the price.

I had similar questions regarding longevity, durability, etc, etc.. I did a search on the internet and found some generator discussion boards and consumer type reports. I found that a majority of the feedback was positive. I've only had this unit for about a month now and have put probably close to 30hrs on it already without a moments trouble. Sorry I don't have a longer track record for ya but I do lnow that they are extremely popular in Europe where generators are in high demand. Good luck in your search.

Bear,

Does the 3000 has sufficient power to run most, if not all of your
appliances, Air conditioning etc....? I was told for my 27' trailor I
would need a 3500 plus. However, I probably will never run everything at one time. thanks again for your help.

I also have a 27' trailer and it runs the a/c just fine. I haven't had the need to run all of the appliances at once, but it does carry the air conditioner load just fine by itself. I was able to cook in the microwave, power all the lights, water pump and a small tv at the same time. Next time out I'll try the a/c with a few more appliances and let ya know. As theangler has recommended, boats.net is a great place to look and they have great prices and often free shipping. They just didn't have the 3000 in a suitcase style or I would have gone with them.[cool]
